playtest question simple before i preorder

is play test basicly a new players hand book or is it a sneak peek of the new one and then you order the new one?

It's a a sneak peek so to speak... it's a book of the currently being playtested rules for Second Edition, that they would like you to look over, play with, and comment on it as you feel necessary ^w^

The physical copies are basically for collecting, as the PDF will be free.

It is really more of a "rough draft" than a sneak peek. You will get enough information to playtest the game, not just tantalizing clues about what the final product might look like.

Hello Chris,

The other posters are correct. It is a player's handbook, but the rules in it are not final. The idea is you play with the rules and give feedback on them so we can adjust and improve the game. Then when the game releases in 2019 a finalized player's handbook will be released. So it is a little bit of a sneak peek because you will be seeing the rules before the release date, but it is more like a rough draft as many of the rules may change, or be taken out, or be replaced with other systems between it and the final release.
