[Roll 20] GM in the GMT time zone looking to run a game!

Recruitment

Good morning everyone, I'm LinkDead and I'm here today to run a bit of an interest check with the intention of running a weekly game on Roll20, mainly as nobody I know is into tabletop RPGs and I'm missing my dose of Pathfinder!

The interest check part of this thread is that... Well, I don't know which game to run if I'm being honest. I have it narrowed down to Kingmaker, Crownfall or Dead Suns (please note, this will be my first attempt at running Starfinder if this is chosen) but what I'd like, from interested parties, is for a note stating which of the three you'd most like to play in as at this point I have no real preference in which I'd like to run out of the three.

Ideally, I'd like to run this as a weekly game on Roll20 (especially if Crownfall is picked, as I'll pick up the Crownfall game pack they're releasing this month), my preference at the moment is Tuesdays from 18:00 GMT onwards but am fairly flexible as to the day of the week.

If it is a Pathfinder game that gets run, we will make use of some of the optional rules (Background Skills is a must) which I will work out with my players, Starfinder I'd run by the core rulebook.

Silver Crusade

I'd be interested in kingmaker.

I'll echo rorek55 above; always been curious to try Kingmaker. Wilderness exploration and kingdom building sounds real neat.

Same. And as a German Gmt is fine.

I might be interested as well, but need to check time and date again.
Crownfall - Dead Suns - Kingmaker.
Also i might know 1-2 other interested persons in the same timezone.

I thought there'd be more interest in Crownfall over Kingmaker if I'm honest, interesting :)

Get them to drop by and note their interest Hayato :)

Crownfall sounds also good!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

For the US players, 18:00 GMT is :

1 PM EST
12PM CST (Noon)
11AM MST
10AM PST

I too would be interested in Kingmaker as well.

Silver Crusade

Oh thats right. I'd likely run 30 mins late for the next couple months (due to classes) hm.. Thought it was 2pm est for some reason. I'd still like to throw my hat in the ring, since it would only be for a month or so. Fridays would work best in my current situation but eh. Thats neither here nor there at this point in time.

For what it's worth, it wouldn't have to start at 18:00 it's more about that being the earliest point of the day I'd be available :)

That'd be around noon on a Tuesday for me and Tuesdays are wide open for me ^_^.

What kind of creation rules would be running? This game is a bit....difficult at times when it comes to interparty conflict so either having established roles or government before hand is a generally good idea?

<--Is typically fond of rolling for stats with a point buy back up personally. But I'm good with most anything the GM is comfortable with ^_^

Silver Crusade

focus and foible has become more and more a favorite of mine, but I really don't care too much.

Is that the one with a guaranteed 18 and 8 that you choose for stat, then roll like a d10+8 for the rest of your stats in order?

Silver Crusade

yes, although I've seen it vary from rolling a 10+1d8, 8+1d10, and 2d6+6,

My normal character creation methods when I run PBP are 25 Point Buy, I prefer that over rolling to try and minimise the curve in the groups ability scores at such an early stage. As someone who once rolled a Wizard whose lowest stat was a 17 (18/18/18/18/18/17, on 2d6+6) I'm very familiar with how good scores can make a character but break a campaign (I was the only one to roll an 18, there were some very unhappy individuals, but we all used the same dice roller). Note, I did offer to re-roll or lower my scores but the GM was originally happy with the results until the animosity began!

I am 50/50 on the feat tax rules, I use those half the time and forget about them the other half. With previous Kingmaker games I've tended to give some extra gold to the group as a whole to purchase supplies with (typically horse, cart, food, tents, some raw materials for Craft skills) and have even previously had the group start off as survivors of a mercenary band who come across the charter and choose to take it on as a job.

What I will do, when I know for certain what game will be running, is open a Discord chat for players to jump into and talk, put together the group as a whole. Things like Kingdom roles can be decided then as well :)

I am interested as well.

25 Point Buy is good, especially with the addition of no stats over 18 or under 8 after racials. That makes for balanced characters in my experience. Also gives room to put some more points into INT or CON, etc.
Just recently became aware of the feat tax rules and have to say it's actually nice. I'm still wondering about the "greater" maneuver feats though.
Like Helikon i'm in Germany at GMT -1 (next 2 weeks are winter time still tough).

At least no more nights with -15 degrees!

Yeah it was really "nice" to stand at several train stations where there are no protected areas early in the morning^^

25 point buy is fine with me and I do understand how it can feel unbalanced with the rolling system.

I like both versions of feats. It's nice when you don't have to buy the very basic ones, it also helps relieve the pressure of needing to be human to be good at X classes at the 1-3 levels. But I also see how it can nerf/kill the fighter's core reason for existence which is...feats! (at least to me, I understand they can pull off some amazing things as well that isn't as easy for other classes but still.)

I didn't see a fighter in play since several years.
There's many reasons to play a fighter again though, since the weapon and armor masters books came out, with tons of fighter exclusive stuff which is really good.
That's also still viable with the feat tax system.

I hear you. I had to wear gloves to drive my car because the wheel was to cold to touch.
Alas I fancy a cavalier for klngmaker

Hmmm, I could fancy a Cleric of Erastil if feat tax was in play. I'd at least be able to fire my bow and heal that way.

Though, I'm not sure at all what I'd really wanna play. I think it'd depend on how we plan to go about it on how we'd play it.

Silver Crusade

I as well am looking at 1 of three options, A cavalier, a druid, or an arcane caster. Seeing as another voiced his idea to create a cavalier, If kingmaker is selected, I'll be presenting either a druid or an arcane caster (either occultist, wizard, or arcanist)

Sounds awesome.

I’d be interested in Kingmaker. I can make any weekday work as long as it ends by the time my kiddos get out of school. So if you’re thinking of starting at 1800 GMT, that worksfor me. I’d be happy to take on any role, but might lean towards the arcane as I haven’t had a chance to play one in awhile. Depending on party makeup, 25 point buy can be overkill, IMHO.

I think i'm actually more interested in Crownfall or Dead Suns, but seems the majority here wants to play Kingmaker.
Might also be fine.
Next plan was to play a tiefling uc monk for me who has some diplomacy and knowledge skills as well.
Else i'm also game to discuss a functioning party.

Looking back at my post it seems I forgot to add that Crownfall would be great too.

I'm going to leave this for a few more days to see if there is any further interest, though it looks like - at current - I'll be running Kingmaker :)

Awesome

Silver Crusade

cool

Tubular.

Hey everyone, just an update; I was hoping to get this started today by opening a Discord channel and starting up the game on Roll20 but laptop has chosen this same day to be (according to the Apple tech I spoke to) defective. I've got an appointment booked with them and am going to hopefully get it sorted tonight! If so I'll be getting everything sorted tomorrow, else it might have to wait a few days but I will pop by on my phone if that's the case and let you all know!

Is it Kingmaker then?

The interest base has definitely been more heavily skewed that way, unless we have any further interest over the next few days in Crownfall or Dead Suns, then I'll run Kingmaker.

I've had to leave my laptop at the Apple store to have the battery (and back case, because everything is attached in the slim case) and potentially the screen replaced. Up to ten consecutive days before it can be picked up so there will be a few more days for that interest to swing one way or another.

You could also already open the channel ;-)

I'd be interested in Crownfall or Kingmaker, but am already in a Dead Suns campaign with another group.

Crownfall would be awesome indeed, but sadly the players guide is still not out.

Hey there. I'm interested. Kingmaker would be grand. I'm also GMT, and Tuesdays would work best for me too. Will watch with interest.

Having looked at the player's guide for Crownfall, I think I'd prefer that to Kingmaker, but I'd be up for either of those two APs.

Ah is the players guide finally out? Need to take a look at it later.

I am happy as long as it is not Starfinder

Yeah, it was released two days ago, I think.

Reading that players guide i really hope i get a chance to play WftC with a good group.
This AP sounds like so much fun!

Now with the players guide out I wouldn´t mind to play WftC.

Hey all, finally picked my laptop back up today, apologies for the radio silence!

Discord server is up (https://discord.gg/CnHUgjx), please let us all know who you are when you drop in!

I've settled on Crownfall having had a chance to look at the Players Guide, looks like a lot of fun can be had. Once I know who is who, I'll invite them through to the character creation channel.
