Basic Leshykinesis

So a Leshys alternate form functions as Tree Shape meaning they have a dex of 0 and 0 movement.

However Basic Leshykinesis from UW page 23 reads: A vine leshy leshykineticist can use her basic phytokinesis to move while in her alternate vine form, with a base speed of 10 feet and a climb speed of
10 feet.

My question is since they can now move in this form what happens to their dex?

As you have to use a Standard Action to use your kinetic blasts, use of Basic Leshykinesis would as well. Your Dex would still be 0 in Tree Shape, just that you could move as a Standard Action (not as a Move Action).

Except Basic Leshykinesis doesn't take an action. It actually lets them take the actions to gather power and use their blasts in tree form.

Basic phytokinesis is a spell-like ability, meaning it's a standard action to use. Whether it was intended that Leshykineticists are supposed to use a standard to move or not, it seems to be the case.

But Leshykinesis is listed as a Supernatural Ability

Basic Leshykinesis (Su): A vine leshy leshykineticist can use her basic phytokinesis to move while in her alternate vine form, with a base speed of 10 feet and a climb speed of 10 feet. The vine counts as a prehensile appendage for the purpose of aiming kinetic blasts and gathering power. At the GM’s discretion, this ability might apply to leshykineticists of other leshy varieties as long as their alternate forms aren’t rooted to the ground (and even then, they might be able to use something like a branch to aim kinetic blasts). This alters basic phytokinesis.

It’s also unclear if it’s an infinite duration ability. So one standard action to activate it and then you have a move speed forever after?

Ok I think I get the idea of where the standard action part is coming in since Basic Phytokinesis is mentioned. Which adds more questions is that is the way it works.

1)What is your dex during the movement? For example if you provoke an AoO? Or are making a stealth role
2)If a standard action is required for every use of this power, then what is the point of the second line? If you use your standard action to activate Phytokenisis then you can't use your standard to fire. Gathering power(normally a move)is pointless because even if you justified it as part of the same action to use basic phytokenisis then you have already used your standard action and cannot fire off a blast

1) Since you can move, you do have a Dex. I'd guess you either use your normal Dex, or else treat it as 1. Leaning towards the former, but unclear.

2) I don't think it's supposed to require you to spend a standard action activating basic phytokinesis every time you use leshykinesis. As you say, the line "The vine counts as a prehensile appendage for the purpose of aiming kinetic blasts and gathering power" strongly suggests you're intended to be able to use your blasts while using leshykinesis, which requires a standard action.

I wouldn't be surprised if basic leshykinesis was actually supposed to be "always active" and the reference to basic phytokinesis was for flavour purposes rather than mechanics. Unfortunately strict RAW does say standard action and RAI is not clear.
