How many Player Characters?

Dead Suns

So I just stared skimming through the first book and I could not find any number written in bold telling GMs how many players are expected.
Google was not much help either.

This would be my first official Paizo campaign, any advice on this topic?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Paizo campaigns are written with 4 PCs in mind in every case I've seen so far and I don't see any suggestion that it's different in this case. However, the adventures also have allowances for up to 6 players usually (e.g. the ship being crewable by up to 6) so you can go up to that and if the players seem to be breezing through combat too easily just add an extra enemy or two to compensate.

Haven't seen an AP yet that falls apart with 5 PCs instead of 4. Don't sweat it. :)

Thank you for the Quick replies. :)
Hmm, 4 players... in other words 2/3 of the available classes. I wonder how balanced the players skill-pool will be.

Grand Lodge

They're written for 4, but unless Starfinder CR is calculated far differently, 5 players should make a minimal difference.

Pathfinder APs are generally built to run at four players, and I believe that to be the case here as mentioned by several posters.

However. If you want the "official" word, check Rob McCreary's intro on page three, at the first sentence under "Dead Suns".

Also, page six under "Advancement Track" says it is designed for four characters.
