Hey all,
With thrown weapons you add the STR modifier to your attack roll. Let's assume my character has a BAB of 0 and -1 STR modifier. The roll to attack would be a d20 -1. I have no issue with that. What I have an issue with is the reflex save for those in the radius of a grenade's explosion:
The weapon special property for explode states that "Each creature within the blast radius takes the listed damage but can attempt a Reflex saving throw for half damage."
The weapon description for grenades state that "The DC of the save is equal to 10 + half the grenade's item level + your Dexterity modifier. Any penalty you take to your attack roll also applies to this save DC."
1) Is the -1 STR modifier considered a penalty in the instance of determining the DC for the reflex save?
2) If so, I would argue that it would not because your physical strength should not play a role in how well a grenade explodes. And that they above mentioned penalties relates more to throwing past the 20ft. range, or from conditions, etc.
Thoughts?
