New Eidolon Subtypes!

Homebrew and House Rules

Not every Summoner summons angels or demons. Much as the denizens of the planes come in a near infinite array of forms, so do the eidolons that a summoner may call to her side!

Pathfinder Unchained provides the summoner with a variety of eidolon subtype to choose from, yet many subtypes are still missing. This thread aims to fix that!

The following outsider categories lack an eidolon subtype for now!

  • Aeons
  • Asuras
  • Demodands
  • Kami
  • Manasaputras
  • Oni
  • Qlippoth
  • Rakshasas
  • Sahkils

Use this thread to share your ideas on what form (as in stats) an eidolon subtype may entail. You needn't confine your creativity to the types listed, feel free to share any fun eidolon ideas you may have!

While not free homebrew material, I feel I would be remiss in not pointing out that Everyman Unchained: Eidolons covers all of these outsider types and more - aeons, asuras, demodands, dreams, einheriars, foo creatures, genies, kami, manasaputras, mephits, oni, qlippoths, rakshasas, and sahkils - as well as many potential non-outsiders. If you're into third party material at all, I definitely recommend it!

Thanks for pointing that out! It's exactly what I'm looking for!

Kami, Oni, and Rakshasa are Native, and may not fit the summoner concept in the same way.

I think that kami and oni are fairly thematic; a kami is tied to a particular ward, so it's not hard to imagine someone either providing an anchor to a kami who had lost their ward, or perhaps even taking the ward or a piece of it and using it to call upon a kami, while oni are canonically bodiless until they manage to create a body for themselves...and if a summoner can provide a body, well, that might be quite appealing to many would-be oni.

Rakshasa are a bit more difficult to imagine, admittedly, though I somewhat like the idea of a summoner having interfered with a rakshasa's natural reincarnation, perhaps with the rakshasa's agreement or even having been manipulated into it, allowing them to come back without needing to wait for an appropriate child to be born, or alternatively, a more unwilling rakshasa forcibly reincarnated into a body not of their choosing, but the summoner's, and one whose very existence is under the control of the summoner's.

Much better suited for a villain but I've been pondering an archetype where the eidolon possesses a mundane host everyday. It would stat out similiar to a synthesist, possibly with base form changing based on the host.
