Soul Gems in PFS

Just came cross the rules for this myself and I'm quite intrigued, but uncertain about how they're viewed in PFS.

It claims in Hero Lab that it's allowed, however I'm uncertain and I wouldn't know how PFS would outline the cost of spells, etc, not to mention how you could even do such a thing in PFS so my assumption is that the create soul gem would either do nothing or they all have a base price and the GM has to say "acquired Soul Gem" or something like that on your reporting sheet.

I'm quite curious as my character's end goal is to attempt to gain knowledge of Hell and use potential contacts to cement her place as head of the family once the other members in her way have been...removed.

Can you quote or provide a link to what a "soul gem" is, and what source it's from?

EDIT: inquiring family members want to know... ;-)

I suggest not including spells or items into your backstory, it gems would disappear at the end of the session in any case.. and you would avoid any alignment infractions and discussions.

Best to skip it.

And I really suggest not getting a familiar that eats souls and sends them straight to hell... that might have final "you have filled your evil punch card" implications.

Create Soul Gem is a spell from Book of the Damned 3

So it is.

But the rules for soul gems from that source don't appear to be legal, so you'd really just end up with a crystalline paperweight for a scenario.

ok, good to know.

I searched additional resources for Book of the Damned, but nothing showed up and everything that's 3rd party is disallowed anyway, but I though it was best to ask just in case as, like you said, it'd just be a crystalline paperweight.

Well the story was in place before the gems, but being that the gems are able to sell to outsiders for all kinds of things, both in-game and meta stuff.

Also sadly I'm stuck there considering the type of wizard this character is "Egorian Academy Infernal Binder" since at 7th my creature is replaced with an Imp. Gaining the improved familiar fear and must take an Imp as a companion.

Too bad your character isn't CORE. Would be awesome to have more than one member of the same Chelish family in a play-by-post =).

...even if you're out to murder a few of them...

ahh I just noticed.

Well her backstory is that she was adopted (as I found out later they're a human family) but only by a distant branch of the family so the only way she could assume control is if everyone else above her in the family tree were to die or disappear.

She currently has a slave, but that's his cover identity. He became a slave when his parents disowned him for being a Tiefling and Jaquilin is using him for the moment, then will have his parents removed so that even though he was disowned, he's still the only living blood relative of the family and all his lands will be returned and given to her.

How can this character be PFS legal? The ruthlessness of the back story paint a very evil character.

Because backstory is, generally speaking, not something that is audited or, realistically, comes up in most games. If the character starts performing evil acts in game, then there might be some issue.

House Leroung is the most scholarly of the Chelish noble houses. Makes perfect sense for a few to want to be Pathfinders.

Ok. Still a blood-thirsty back story.

No less bloodthirsty than a former slave who 'axed' his way to freedom.

Merger is 'mostly' good but has issues with Slave owners..
