NPCs or PCs! Whether you plan to play them or just thought of something cool and want to share it, post here.

1. An alien from a planet without a spider analogue, who has inexplicable but debilitating arachnophobia
2. An alien with an overwhelming fear of some monster native to their planet, who actually moved offworld because of that fear
3. The Last Lizardfolk

4. Planet Mothmen

5. Dual-droid character (one droid operates as legs, the other is attached on top as arms, both talk. Not OP because it acts as one character)

6. Spaceship as a central character with backstory and plot goals

7. The first of a species (such as the aforementioned Lizardfolk) that was preserved since the beginning, and is now thrust into the futuristic world where its progeny now struggle for existence - and the emotional weight that puts on that first character

8. A sentient spider (Haan) who has crippling bipedalphobia but can't go home because he's been exiled.

9. An android mechanic with an exocortex who sometimes forgets which voice in their head belongs to them and which to the computer. Also, they refer to themselves exclusively in third-person plural (y'all).

10. A militant vesk who loves to smash and maim but has a debilitating urge to collect curios and tchotchkes.

11 After realizing he's wasted most of his life as a guard for done spoiled brats in an important kasathan house, a kasatha weary of his life becomes a cop on verces. After someone burned him, he found hin self badgeless and disgraced. Became a bounty hunter to get by and find the person who burned him

12 A raving lunatic who is convinced Weydan should not be worshipped as part of a reality shattering conspiracy.

13. The last Androffan android, inexplicably able to remember Pre-Gap Golarion.

14 above average intelligence goblin mechanic that flies around with their drone dropping grenades on their enemies.

15 icon soldier, a space cowboy musician exploring the vast reaches of space looking for inspiration for his new country album. Pilot, singer, heavy weapons enthusiast.

16 android mystic (maybe solarian) who only speaks in "wise sayings" in relation to The Cycle.

Collecting some character ideas I came up with that are spread around a bunch of other threads:

13.) A shirren mechanic whose drone isn't an AI: its a robotic exoskeleton the mechanic created to keep their larva safe. Said larva is the one who is actually piloting the drone.

14.) A different shirren mechanic who created a drone specifically to help them with their crippling choice paralysis.

15.) A Kasatha mechanic who was trying to craft an extra pair of cybernatic arms for herself (because, really, 4 arms is never enough) and somehow ended up making a battle drone instead.

16.) A mystic with the bounty hunter theme. Hunting down criminals and capturing them are acts of religious devotion. Probably dedicated to either Demeritosh or Besmara.

17.) A mystic whose power comes from the ability to literally hack reality. Computers are for amateurs!

18.) A ysoki soldier who tries to impress the vesk woman he's in love with by wrestling bigger and bigger opponents.

19.) An android operative or envoy whose previous incarnation made an ill-advised deal with a Bone Sage before deciding to pass on. Now she's on the run from said Bone Sage who wants to collect what he believes is owed him, even though the android has no connection to said deal beyond inhabiting the body that a previous person used to make the deal.

That's literally what a Technomancer does.

That's literally what a Technomancer does.

But they've got to use technology.

We don't know anything about them needing a technological conduit for their magic yet. That does sound cool though.

20. An android in the shape of a sword - loves to sing

21. Dire Ratfolk that can give the Vesk a run for their money

22. Hive mind wolf pack à la Vernor Vinge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

23. A Sarcesian Icon Phrenic Adept Solarian who leads a cult/new age group in the Diaspora of sentient beings intent on modifying themselves to the point that they may live in the vacuum of space indefinitely.

24. A Contemplative Xenoseeker Envoy who is trying to bring mental enlightenment to the "less mentally gifted" races.

25. A Kasatha Mystic who delivers touch spells by slapping her crewmates.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

26. Importing the shifter race that acts like the predator alien. Always up for a hunt.

27. A very charismatic Captain that is incredibility stupid. Think Zapp Brannigan.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

28. A veteran Android Mechanic Ace Pilot who's own personality, exocortex, and ship AI have become so entangled that he has a hard time distinguishing between his body, his "other mind" and his starship.

Alternatively, if that's not really possible (depending on the ship AI rules) he's romantically involved with his ship/exocortex (or both!)

You consider Zapp Brannigan Charismatic? ... well, each their own

29. A post gap Elf who wants to reconnect the elves with the rest of the universe

30. A self declared vesk pacifist... (in a similar style to prince phillip from slayers)

31. A goblin envoy who motivates his peeps with catchy lines and chants

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Kind of riffing off a few ideas up-thread, but what about ...

32. An AI brain that's gotten itself embedded on a former marine's (now brain-dead) body, controlling it like a big meat puppet body (mechanically: a human Exocortex mechanic, with the exocortex is the character, and the human is just his body).

Scarab Sages

33. A former joyful thing that was liberated from a kuthite sect and outfitted with cyberwear replacement limbs and organs, on a mission to destroy the group that turned him into a joyful thing. The twist: he is still devoted to zon-kuthon.

34.) A shirren mystic priest of Zon-Kuthon who forces himself to follow orders as a method of inflicting psychological pain on himself.

35.) A Vesk soldier who worships Iomedae, because he likes the way she wages war better than the way Damoritosh wages war. Needless to say, he's been disowned by his family.

36.) A space goblin envoy who inspires his comrades by blaring pop tunes out of the biggest speakers he can find.

37. A human operative bounty hunter who's trying to build up enough of a reputation to have a shot of joining the Order of the Chain. Is also a worshiper of Erastil, and spends his time moping about how complicated everything is these days. Is somewhat technically challenged, but a pretty good shot with non energy weapons.

38. A Ysoki Asmodean who works as a lawyer or legal representative and is damn good as his job, loves nothing more than tricking people into just giving away their valuables or freedom.

39. A half elf orphan who grew up in poverty on Absolom Station. Given some recent events, she has reason to believe that her father (never present in her life) is some incredibly powerful psychic, and a high ranking official of the Dominion of the Black. Worries that her conception is part of some unknowable plan formed by unknowable entities, and doesn't want any part of it. So begins a quest to kill a bunch of abberations and take control of her fate.

(Ironically, both the half elf daughter and her full elven father are the same alignment, chaotic evil, just very different takes on the same alignment).

40. A goblin that's convinced it's an android (robotic dancing and all).
41. Wait for it...Pigs in Space!
42. A human Envoy that's just a bit too smart for the aliens à la Keith Laumer

2 people marked this as a favorite.

43. Middle-aged dwarf soldier icon. Stars in pro pact world propaganda holo-shorts.

44. A vesk pilot who considers his delivering supplies to wartorn settlements proving himself in armed conflict. The Veskarium disagrees

45. An extremely bigoted old man, once intolerant and ignorant of all artitificial intelligence, who is mentally and physically adjusting to the android body into which he was reincarnated.

46. A space goblin envoy who motivates her allies to rush into battle...and away from her dial-up modem and megaphone.

47: Gnome mechanic, raised by the goblin scavengers that discovered her aboard a half-scrapped derelict. Considers most non-Goblins either foppish control freaks or finicky cry-babies. Sports Goblin "fashion" and always sounds vaguely annoyed when speaking Common. Knows very little about Gnomes.

48: NPC/Antagonist- An Android that wants to be human so she covers herself in the flesh of those she kills. A bounty hunter that hunts humans and humanoids exclusively for this purpose, and you are on her list.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

49: an android mechanic "born" wearing advanced disguise augments, thinks she is actually a human with amnesia; she steadily ignores mounting evidence to the contrary (one of my players asked me to greenlight this concept, and I liked it so much I'm sharing it).

50: Vesk mechanic who carries around a hammer w/ the Percussive written the side. Has an adjustable wrench called Attitude. He's know to use both on stubborn machinery and people.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

51.) Human operative with the priest theme. One of the "Debt Collectors," special agents employed by AbadarCorp to perform missions that might not be good PR for the company to acknowledge.

52.) An android mechanic whose drone is their child. Shares Shirren sensibilities about child-raising.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

53.) Android operative who underwent Renewal while in prison. One of the first things they learn upon awakening is that the last three people to occupy their body have gone mad and become mass murderers. That's as far back as they're able to trace.

Just because it would be such a classsic -
54) a Contemplative Mystic with Phrenic Adept archetype.

Big floating brain with psychic powers. Who wouldn't want to play that.

55. Human who believes he's reincarnated every time he dies. Lives with androids who do not believe him. Things get tense as they argue who's older.

Pathfinder Lost Omens Subscriber

56. Android Scholar Mechanic who is an AI from an abandoned research facility that minted an Android to inhabit as their station fell into disrepair. After escaping, they seek to continue their research directive while grappling with their newfound autonomy.

I don’t have my Core Rule Book yet, but I plan on making a Shirren Soldier that has the theme of a priest dedicated to Hylax. He belongs to an order of monk type folks that has served as guardians for the Shirren from portions of the Swarm that has been trying to eliminate them since they dropped out the hive mind. He and the rest of his order are dedicated to promoting peace and hope to one day move to a position where their ministry is less violent. My character will be someone that is dedicated to the concept of choice and individuality, but has noticed that a lot of Shirren of being a little crazy just to get that buzz from free choice. Instead, he is a painter and tries to teach other people to do art to make choices and express their individuality on everyday basis while adding something to the community. He’ll basically be an insectoid Bob Ross that’s one tough bug.

This idea comes from my own personal build:

57. A human assassin (bounty hunter) born in the slums of Akiton. His skill with a sniper rifle earned him enough money to attend an academy of technomancy in Absalom Station. Now, he uses his skill with technomancy to augment his marksmanship, firing spells from long range to devastating effect.

Ripped straight from another thread:

58. Mechanic with a hover drone. Travel blogger. Drone has a camera and the mechanic documents new/exciting destinations.
Funded through Patreon and ad revenue.

59. Kade: an android who has learned that he's an avatar of Wydan. Or, more specifically, that he seems to be some kind of reincarnation / re-imagining of an old Golarion God: Cayden. Likely a mystic or something else with supernatural elements to his build.

60. A Shirren host with a history of being an option junkie. While making several series of bad choices it loses its larvae. Its dedication to the child(?) and its male and female parents makes its one new focus finding the larvae. It has to battle all the other options that come up along its quest and learn to focus on its objective to recover the child.

I was going the other direction - the guy goes on missions, and has a reality show of his life. Less Travel, more action - sorta like Xcrawl. :)

This sounds very, very interesting.

I just recently ran a sword&planet game at a con, and the two unused characters might fit pretty well into Starfinder, too.

61. A Vercite Pure One farmer who seeks to end the threat of Diaspora-based pirates. Has an ultra-traditionalist, Luddite streak, but is too utilitarian to object to the most basic technology (guns and spaceships) or even to allies who use cybertech.
62. A sleepwalker with an abnormally distractible personality, who wants to explore the stars rather than making art forever. Along the lines of a YA dystopia protagonist.

I was going to say this one, but got beaten to it, it seems. Ah well, I'll do it anyways.

A Solarion whose stage name is "Jimmy Starrdust" who has a reality TV show, deliberately making things more dangerous for the party in the name of ratings.

A Ghost Operative whose abilities are primarily drawn from channeling a literal ghost, a dead relative who was a much more successful operative, and constantly harasses the character for not living up to expectations.

Shirren host envoy/scholar. Goes by "professor". Studies xenoarchaeology/anthropology. Gets in too deep.

Two characters: a Triaxan dragon rider and her dragonkin mount, however the dragonkin has recently converted to the faith of a god not normally worshipped on Triaxis, causing friction between them despite their unbreakable bond.

66.) Kasatha mercenary soldier. He has trained in a traditional kasatha martial art that involves wielding 2 melee weapons and 2 guns at the same time known as "The Way of the Inexorable Comet Shower." Very hardcore.

67.) Human xenoseeker envoy. A kellid barbarian from old golarion who got frozen in a capsule somewhere in Numeria and awoke several thousand years later when said capsule was scavenged from a wreck found in the diaspora. Doing his best to adjust to the world around him - it helps that he was friends with both androids and kasathas before his unintentional nap.

68.) Android priest technomancer. A worshipper of Triune, who wants to understand the true nature of the android soul and thus studies how natural forces and artificial creations interact.

69) Android Exocortex Mechanic. Only the Exocortex is an implanted Brain stem and nerves - biologic. Gets biologic, not mechanical upgrades.

Basically the reverse of a human going cyborg.

that works. I'm sure most other androids would think him crazy.

70.) Human xenoseeker mystic. Claims the spirit of the universe (who he calls Bob) wants him to find and befriend everyone there ever was, is, and will be.

Liberty's Edge

71. A human with idiosyncratic dietary restrictions - synthesized food is bad for the body, but freezers use known carcinogens. On long missions, they pack terrariums.

5 people marked this as a favorite.

72: A kind, well-meaning, but dim human 'bounty hunter' envoy that has been hired by a mad AI to eliminate various people the AI found in its data banks. The AI sends him packages labeled "Your task is to dispose of the mark inside" and which include a fancy gold coin as payment and a dossier on a particular mark. Being a kind and naive old man, he thinks the coin is the "mark" and he needs to dispose of it by giving it to the person described in the dossier. He travels the galaxy to find individuals and convince them to take these weird old coins he keeps getting.
