I'm not even close to being done with it.... haven't even finished chapter one for context. I started things the day before the festival to give people some sense of the Willowshore in peacetime and have them connect to characters. I haven't gotten too far but so far it's paid off!

It's given a lot more weight to the events of Chapter 1 and all the PCs have NPCs they are worried about. It's given me a lot to work with.

My players wanted to play this AP specifically so they are all on board and I'm excited to get to the extended downtime because I know they are going to be ambitious with their downtime plans.

Anything in particular you were wondering?

Tizzles, you're the MVP! Thanks a lot for this.

I'm going to start running the AP this week and I definitely feel you. I'm going to attempt to run a condensed version of the AP and I'm debating whether or not to track everything in detail or to focus on the two leaders. I figure that I'm going to make up some NPCs to head up the Silvermist Lodges and Jadeite Essentials. Overall this is going to be more bookkeeping than I'm used to doing as a GM on influence.

Also interesting point on the names. Thanks for separating those out!

One of my players wants to be a Tanuki fortune teller. Any ideas for a substitute ancestry before the Tien books come out? I've got a couple ideas but it would be good to get some insight.

I'm hyped! It's been a couple of years since I ran an AP and I hope they put out some interviews or teaser content for this. I ran Extinction Curse and some of the interviews with the developers gave some interesting insight. Since we're after Gencon and right before the remaster I'm not sure we'll get it though. There's some interesting things going on with this being a four part adventure and taking place in the past. Additionally it would be good to know some guidance or thoughts for running a horror story in a heroic system. Regardless I'm excited.

I saw someone on discord saying that there was going to be more than just the organized play and that you'd be given a schedule of events when you check in at the convention. I think this is frustrating as I want to see friend/family in the Seattle area and it's really hard to schedule stuff if I don't know when things area. Hopefully they decide to post the schedule today or tomorrow.

PaizoCon starts one week from today. Any info on when the schedule will be released for the seminars/workshops/panels etc.?

I'm wondering this as well.

I'm thinking about having a group of skelm rebuilding an old church as the nemesis for part of the adventure in running but I have one question. Given that they can basically shape shift into another humanoid do they unshapeshift if they go unconscious or die? I'm trying to figure out how things might unravel.

I just want to give this topic a bump. I remember hearing that Paizo was going to start putting high res versions of maps in products. I saw this has been done with society and think it's great, but it would be great if it was done with APs.

My roommate was thinking about running AoE and I told him I think they had the high res maps. We checked my PDFs and nope, not yet on the newest volume. As more and more people run on VTT this becomes more and more important. Additionally, one of the my players has a plotter and when we can print out a high res version of one of the maps hot dog do they look awesome.

Lastly, I believe that having high res versions of the maps available with the pdfs would make the AP PDFs a more appealing product to people even if they we're not interested in the AP. Also I know PDF might be a limiting format for this but even if a JPG or something would be an improvement over what we've got now.

IF they don't want to do this because of some sort of agreement with VTT publishers like Roll20 and FG, that's fine. I'd just like to know as much.

My player's really like doing the circus part of the AP right now. If this continues through book 2, then I think I'm going to create another set of antagonists that are more entertainment focused and loop in trying to perform at the big festival in Absalom. I'm basically of thinking about making an entertainment conglomerate (Golarian Disney) that offers to sign the Circus and start to take over. Eventually, it becomes clear that the conglomerate is interested in monopolizing entertainment and turning it into propaganda for some cause that I haven't thought of yet. I kind of feel like the AP as written isn't really the story of the PC and the circus after a certain point and I think this kind of side story can keep that story a more important part of the AP and add a little bit of politics to the AP.

I've worked other sorts of drama in to the shows to keep them interesting and doing scene within scene type of things that can be influenced by how the circus does. For instance, my group just put on their second show and had set up a date between one of the Dwarven Throwers circus performers and Pruana from the Muggers. Between tricks we'd cut to the date scene and see how it's going.

I actually think you might have more luck posting to the PF2 Facebook group for something like this. As other posted Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds have LFG boards as well.

Thanks for taking the time to give a thoughtful response. I think it'll take a little practice getting myself in the headspace quickly. Especially for things like dinosaurs, but it's a good challenge

I'm running Extinction Curse and one of my PC's has the ability to speak with certain animals. No spoilers but it's come up a bunch and we're still in the first chapter of book 1 and I think it'll come up a lot more. My problem is that I find it difficult to RP as animals some times and it seems difficult especially when you get to creatures that don't currently exist. Any resources or examples of DMs that you think run speak to animals well? I've listened to all of the GCP, plus Find the Path.

Right now I just try to inflect the voice and try to add some expressions of how they might act. I just have a hard time thinking about something that is capable of speech but doesn't have intelligence.

Just looking for tips.

Just so I have it straight, the Azlanti that are mentioned in the LOCG are Thassalonians which were originally immigrants from Azlant. They were living in Xin-Edasseril at the time of the time disturbance.

I just wasn't sure if there was some other group of Azlanti humans besides those in Xin that escaped Earthfall and are still alive/could serve as a regular PC.

I guess in my head is classify those people of Thassalonians instead of Azlanti. It's not a big deal though, just got me a little confused.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

In Lost Omen's Character Guide it mentions that there is a small population of ancient Azlanti living in Golarion today. One of my players wants to play one in Extinction Curse and I want to learn more about them than the one paragraph in the LOCG. I figured they might be part of Ruins of Azlant?

I think having a character that may have heard of Aroden before he became a god might be interesting given some of the themes in the campaign.

Any sources of more information would be welcome. The pathfinder wiki article on Azlanti did not seem to have anything on them.

I'm going to start GMing a Extinction Curse and one of my players asked about Chirurgeon. If you have an elixir on your person would be it be 1 interact action to draw the potion, 1 interaction action to give the potion and 1 interact action for them to drink it? Or, could you use an interact action to draw a potion and then use a free release action to give it to them? Could the interact action be to feed them the potion?

If you had a familiar could they 1 action stride to the person and 1 action interact to feed them the potion?

I just want to make sure we know how the action economy for elixirs works and other potions works.

I looked for a similar post and found things involving the bandolier, but nothing in general. If another post explains this well, point me there would work as well.

This is skipping a lot of the back and forth going on the specific topics in the last dozen posts or so, but back to the more broad topic of uptake. I'm in two groups right now; one of them started playing with PF2 and I'm the GM. We're going through Plaguestone and will start Extinction Curse soon. Play experience in this group varies wildly for RPGs, but I'd say everyone is a "gamer". I have another group that has played through multiple campaigns on Roll20 with 5e. The second group has also played FAE, the GM in the second group rotates. We been playing RPGs together for years, but I'd say one member isn't a "gamer".

Everyone that plays in my home game is loving PF2. It seems to meet our needs and we all enjoy the combat and have not had issues realizing character concepts. We also play pretty fast and loose, and rules knowledge among the group in general is far below what I'd see on the forums. The thing that impresses us most is how good/fun combat feels. Personally I think combat in 5e/PF1 isn't very fun compares to wargames I play/gloomhaven. PF2 gets closer. I also think PF2 goes well with mini/terrain gameplay.

The group I'm on I'm Roll20 is pretty invested in 5e. Like I mentioned before, I think 5e combat isn't very fun. I've thought about trying to bring up changing but haven't because it took some people in the group a while to get a basic mastery of 5e and it seems like there's a sunken cost there. The benefits of changing might not be worth the headaches. Also idk how fun the combat would be on a vtt. Plus everyone has all the 5e books and no one has PF2 materials besides me. This is a lot less of an issues with PF2 because of the awesome open source policies, but it's still an issue.

Everyone I've played PF2 with has been impressed (home games and conventions), but people tend to get really invested in RPGs in a lot of different ways so I'm not surprised if not everyone is dropping everything to switch over.

Thanks a lot for the responses everyone. I feel good about rolling with the idea I had.

I'm going to GM Extinction Curse for my group in the coming months and I've had an idea for an NPC I'd try to work in. Long story short, he is a ghost hunter of sorts with a ghost/spirit companion. The spirit is his old partner/lover and they are still companions. I've got this whole backstory baked up, but I don't know if there are ghosts in the way I'm thinking that aren't evil. If there are spirits that aren't evil, but are not "Ghosts" strictly speaking that works as well. I just don't know enough about the lore to sort things out. I'm not opposed to just making something up, but I like learning about the lore and thought this could be a cool opportunity to learn some more lore.

Basically I do all my prep and have all my notes in OneNote. Right now, I make a lot of calls my the seat of my pants, but I should make more use of the easytool website. My group only meets once every other week for around 3 hours so I really try and keep things moving. I think I run a more cartoony game than most and my players tend to scheme a lot, which I also enjoy. I'm pretty down for just rolling with stuff if I think it's cool.

I have notecards on the table with all the major NPCs on them. It's too encourage group now taking because I don't think taking notes is very fun as a player, especially when it's just trying to remember someone's name. If everyone uses the same cards the flow seems to work really well for my table.

The text says he drinks his mutagen before the fight, does the mutagen effects need to adjust his sheet or has this already been accounted for in his stats?

This might be too late, but I don't think so. There is no Temp HP listed in the stat block. Also, the PC's could pretty easily fight him before they are meant to. A goblin in my party got in a fight with him in the Feedmill, which ended up getting diffused.

Three sessions into Fall of Plaguestone as the DM, I would never have guessed Ghost Sound would be my group's favorite cantrip.... 100% of ghost sounds have been used to make fart jokes.

I don’t have my Core Rule Book yet, but I plan on making a Shirren Soldier that has the theme of a priest dedicated to Hylax. He belongs to an order of monk type folks that has served as guardians for the Shirren from portions of the Swarm that has been trying to eliminate them since they dropped out the hive mind. He and the rest of his order are dedicated to promoting peace and hope to one day move to a position where their ministry is less violent. My character will be someone that is dedicated to the concept of choice and individuality, but has noticed that a lot of Shirren of being a little crazy just to get that buzz from free choice. Instead, he is a painter and tries to teach other people to do art to make choices and express their individuality on everyday basis while adding something to the community. He’ll basically be an insectoid Bob Ross that’s one tough bug.
