Ecclesitheurge questions

Rules Questions

I am looking at creating one for a FTF game, and have a couple of questions.

1. Does this archtype lose all weapon profiencies including the dieties favored weapon.

2. Can the archtype enchant its bonded weapon as the bonded object of a wizard?

So yeah, they lose proficiency in the deities' favored weapon too.

Bonded Holy Symbol (Su): At 3rd level, an ecclesitheurge forms a powerful bond with a holy symbol of his deity, which functions identically to a wizard’s bonded object except it can be used to cast cleric and domain spells (instead of wizard spells) and the ecclesitheurge can grant his bonded holy symbol only magic abilities appropriate for a holy symbol or a neck slot item.

They enchant a holy symbol not a weapon. But yes, if they're multiclassed, or using eldritch heritage (arcane) or something they could have it be the same item. Probably better to have two different items which you can both enchant without needing feats though.

My interpretation of the 'Holy Symbol' point is that your bonded item can be any slotted item capable of functioning as a holy symbol.

For example, a ring could be used as your bonded symbol due to the precedence set by items such as 'Ring of the Ecclesiarch'.

I do recall seeing a post somewhere from a Dev stating that the reason why the wording was used in the archetype was to future proof it as different items came out that could fucntion as holy symbols....

Avr, the way that I always read the favoured weapon, is that it was an add on to the standard list.

As an example, a cleric is normally not allowed a martial weapon, but if you follow someone like Eristal (sic), then you get the weapon as a bonus along with your normal ones.

This is why I was kind of asking if they get the restricted list, and then the gods favoured weapon.

It just seems odd that they put all their faith in the god for protection and spells, but are not allowed to use their gods weapon ??

As for the enchantment of the item, thank you.

That's my take on it too.

Regarding multiple classes with bonded objects, as written, the rules don't normally allow stacking the multiple bonded objects, in the same manner as you would multiple classes with familiars. So, in theory, you would have two different bonded objects if you had two classes with them, and you wouln't be able to make the same object bonded to two classes.

Regarding rules conflicts, it doesn't usually matter, but there are a small handful of archetypes which significantly benefit from stacking the bonded objects. I'd leave it up to the GM, but with strict RAW, each bond is seperate, unless specifically mentioned otherwise (there's a few prestige classes that stack bonded objects, rather than adding an additional).
