So I have a player who is playing an unchained monk (with a homebrewed far strike archetype), and decided it was in his best interest to totally tank his dexterity in favor of having 18 strength and wisdom. Like... 7 dexterity. Before you go asking "why would he do such a thing?" I will refer you to this meme. To make matters worse, he's pretty invested in the idea of grappling with harpoons. As for the attack bonus for throwing weapons, he's holding out until he can get a belt of mighty hurling, but it still leaves the matter of actually maintaining a consistent grapple with anything. I'm looking for ways we can help bring up his combat maneuver defense a little bit.
I'd love to be able to give him advanced defensive combat training, but as an unchained monk defensive combat training is a feat tax that literally gives nothing back because he has full BAB. Is there any way you guys know how to sure up his combat maneuver defense a little bit?

Well, since Str and Dex both factor into CMD, he could pump up his Str even more....
Yeah I guess I was thinking more along the lines of feats or traits. He definitely plans on boosting his strength any chance he gets, and even has his eye out for any werebears he can convince to turn him.
Edit: Oh! it just occurred to me the size bonus for being a werebear would add +1 to CMD. I don't want to just give him that though. I think he needs to work for it.

Here's rule I learned only recently that I've been passing around ever since:
A creature can also add any circumstance, deflection, dodge, insight, luck, morale, profane, and sacred bonuses to AC to its CMD. Any penalties to a creature’s AC also apply to its CMD. A flat-footed creature does not add its Dexterity bonus to its CMD.

Well his wisdom bonus goes to his CMD, along with any other dodge or deflection bonuses, the grapple feats increase your CMD with your CMB.
So at lv1 with 18 str and wisdom with 7 dex a his CMD is 10+4+4-2+1 for 17 CMD That's the same as having 18 str and 14 dex, which isn't bad.
So at lv 4 it's 10+4+4+4+1-2 for 21 with no investment.
Throw in improved grapple. ring of protection+1 and dodge and we're at CMD 25
Strength’s Fanfare trait.

Awesome! I will keep that handy for future reference but dodge has a 13 dex prerequisite
Edit: whoops just realized it's a monk bonus feat so it doesnt matter nevermind
