How do the less common elements of Pathfinder fit into the new setting?

General Discussion

I'm talking the races not included in the original core rulebook, as well as the planes outside of the Material Plane and now the Drift. Where are the Aasimar, Tieflings, or the Kitsune? Did they disappear with Golarion? What's the status of the elemental planes, Heaven, Hell, or the First World? I don't imagine they reacted too well to losing thousands of years of memory, and I seem to remember there being reference to Otherworldly fey in the First World Campaign Setting. It's something I'd be really interested to know and would love to hear other people's thoughts and ideas!

Pretty much everything still exists somewhere in the galaxy.

Hell has been mentioned, the only significant development there is that pieces are being sucked off into the Drift.

As for the First World, it hasn't been mentioned, but I wouldn't be surpised if that has gone with Golarion.

Is it confirmed that only outer planes are being cannibalized by Drift travel? What if every plane has a chance to be carved up?

It would be hilarious, in a way, to drop out of warp only to be confronted by lots of very angry sprites, brownies, pixies, and perhaps some little blue people as well...

I think it's every plane.

There's no reason to believe the first world would be gone with Golarion. After all, it wasn't the first version of Golarion, it was the first version of the entire material plane. There are also a number of Eldest and First World locations that would fit quite nicely into Starfinder's science-fantasy. Emergence, or Shyka the Many, for example.

Why get rid of Golarion why not just make it another world you can visit?

A) adds a sense of mystery
B) same reason for the gap (the future of pathfinder would be starfinders history, so it would be easy to look up how events go. Preserves pathfinder as a seperate game
C) why venture into space when home is right there? There would be too many hooks, no one would ever leave the planet. They want to tell stories elsewhere.
D) the fact that only a space station remains is kinda cool

So that when they write for Pathfinder they don't get locked down by the future that is Starfinder. Same reason they have the Gap.

I can't wait to see how the Great Old Ones and the Dreamlands feature in Starfinder.

Maybe some of them woke up or were freed? Hastur's planet is now much easier to travel to as well, will that have affected how he does his shtick?

I hope some of this is answered in the Bestiary or splat books when they come out.

That makes sense. However why not just create an alternate universe to correspond to the game system?

What I mean by that is Pathfinder evolved from 3.5 but it's not 3.5. Starfinder is in the same boat (or space ship if you will)...unless it has the same game mechanics. But I was under the impression it's different enough to be, uh, different.

Having said that, I do like the idea of the mysteries involved and have already pre-ordered the SF CRB. So maybe I just answered my own question. I'll thank myself with a beer later.

Well, apparently Nyarlathotep is a core deity now, so I'm guessing at least some of the spooky stuff of the Dark Tapestry is a bit more mainstream now.
