Unchained Barbarian Question:Stances and Multiclassing

Rules Questions

Hi! First time posting here, so please forgive me if I am not following all of the etiquette.

I have a question about the stance rage powers for the UC barbarian interacting with multiclass levels, specifically Guarded Stance but the question would also apply to accurate, elemental, powerful, etc.

The specific wording on the Guarded Stance Rage Power is: "Guarded Stance (Ex): The barbarian can take on a more defensive posture. This grants her a +1 dodge bonus to her Armor Class for the duration of her current rage. This bonus increases by 1 for every 4 levels the barbarian has. This is a stance rage power."

Would levels in classes outside of UC Barbarian provide increases to the benefits of Guarded Stance? For instance, a UC Barb 4/*insert another class* 4 would gain +3 dodge bonus to AC from Guarded Stance since they would have 8 levels.

Silver Crusade

Levels from other classes only apply when the ability specifically calls it out or says "character levels".

"Levels" by itself is shorthand for "Class levels".

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Second what Rysky said. In your example the Guarded Stance would only provide a +2 bonus for the 4 UnBarbarian levels.

Thanks! I guess i should have thought about the wider implications a bit more, haha. By the logic I was using, capstone abilities could be unlocked by dipping a single class level into them at a sufficient character level. Woops.

There's etiquette to follow?

How come not one told me.
