After the lottery slots are chosen and people are signing up for the mass, first-come-first-served table games, is it common for us to introduce ourselves on the Boards here to the other folks in our table?

Do the DMs usually each start a Thread for their game kinda like a meet-and-greet (or roll-call) for the folks that made their table to introduce themselves and their PCs?

Is there any way to even know ahead of time who all is going to be at the table with you after you get selected for the particular event?

It varies by game. Some GMs want to ask about characters and whatnot; other times, you'll just find out who all is playing when you sit down at the game.

The ability to create threads for the events is fairly new, only the last year or two. So *start* the custom! :)

Scarab Sages

Hi I'm Andrew from the UK, no idea if I'll play on any of the same tables but it would be rude of me not to say Hi.

So Hi and hope to see one and all around the con :-)

Grand Lodge

Hi Andrew, I'm not from the UK but I'll be wearing a different Arsenal jersey every day of the Con. And probably carry a sign that reads, "Wenger Out."

As Kate said, it varies. I started a thread for my game since it's using a soon-to-be-published book with rules and a setting people may have questions about. I've played in games where I never spoke to anyone in it until I was at the table. Introductions were made, but it never got much beyond "Hi, pleasure to meet you."

No, if people don't self-identify in the thread. For most lottery games there is one table, so you could start threads as discussed above. For PFS, I think it's harder. Those tables generally self-organize or get assigned at the door, as there are often multiple tables available for high and low tier, if I recall correctly.

Hi, I'm Andrew (a.k.a. Andy), and I am not from the UK. Will be pleased to meet folks I haven't met before and will enjoy seeing old friends that I have met before.

Hello, I'm Tineke and I'm from the netherlands. And it looks like there are not import restrictions on stroopwafels, so I'll bring as many as I realistically can :)

Not that new, I've been doing it since 2011. The thread linked to the event (like product description) is kind of new & now there is an event subforum.

To the OP, when you get your schedule you can follow the event's link. Some of the Season 0 PFS reboots have already started threads for example.

This is a good thing.

Whatever you do though, avoid the horrible stroopwafel liqueur you can buy here.

Why would one ever want to dilute the beautiful thing that is a stroopwafel?

Hi, I'm Chris, also coming from California. And I LOOOOOVE stroopwafels and have tried many brands one can purchase in the US and have never found one as good as those I've had in the Netherlands.

My son, Simon, will be with me for our fifth PaizoCon together, and he's a stroopwafel fan also.

That is a perfectly legitimate question. You, being from the land of stroopwafels and tulips are best poised to figure that out.

Hi, I'm Hilary. I'm from Minnesota along with a whole hoard of other wonderful folks. I'll be representing the Online region!

You can recognize me by my purple glasses, purple stripe in my hair and happy demeanor.

Hope to meet you all!

Just because you aren't wonderful doesn't mean some others of us are not.

Very well, then. I am from Minnesota along with a whole hoard of other wonderful folks... and Mr. Slanky.*

He's wonderful too. Don't let him fool you.

I have chosen not to read the likely spoiler claiming that I'm wonderful too.

What would the word for "part of a horde" be?

"Rabble?"

This will be my fifth PaizoCon. I was kind of surprised when I realized it, but it will be.

The first two I drove down from Squamish BC (about an hour north of Vancouver). The last three I've been flying out from PA, and each year I think it will be my last because it's more expensive to fly (and I hate flying), and because I get paid a whole lot less than I used to. Somehow I found a way this year to make it work.

You can recognize me because I'll be the overweight balding middle-aged white guy with a beard, wearing jeans and a T-shirt.

Are you sure you're not me?

I may be past middle-aged, though; what's the cut-off for that?

Curiosity forced me to find out. Hurray! I'm not old! Yet.

So you are both saying you look nothing like your avatar? I was forward to petting a huge kitty :(

I dunno. Can't people be part of a dragon gnome hoard? I am sure I hoard people at times.

Hmm

Purple glasses!!! Say it isn't so. I too have purple glasses and if my day job would allow I would have purple hair.

This will be my first ever con, let alone PaizoCon.

I'm coming from FL by way of Philly but am originally from,.... Minnesota! (Apparently that's a thing.) Although we moved from Brainerd after Kindergarten and I haven't lived there since (except for college in Northfield), part of me still says I'm from Minnesota. So, Minnesota, Philly and FL.

And I've never had a stroopwafel and I hope I get to try one. And goblin brains. (Mayhaps that will be my reward for starting this Thread?)

Hi, I'm Katina. This will be my 7th PaizoCon, 4th as an employee. I didn't want to hop into the convo and make it feel like the teacher was ruining the fun, but I was lured in by stroopwaffels and fun hair... (Mine's pink!)

Hi, I'm Sara Marie. This will be my 9th PaizoCon, 8th as an employee. I'm not 100% sure what color my hair will be by PaizoCon. See you all bright and early Friday Morning (don't forget to bring a picture ID to pick up your badges).

Grand Lodge

I am fifty and decidedly middle-aged, but I love my purple hair. Welcome Katina and Sara Marie. You guys do know that part of the reason some of us are coming to this convention is to meet all the wonderful Paizo employees we keep interacting with?

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Hi!

I'm Sharaya. This is my 4th PaizoCon, 4th as an employee. My hair will be some shade of blue (not sure if I'll be retouching it or how much it will have faded by then if I don't). And the right side of my head is shaved.

Glases will either be black or purple. I'm probably bringing both pairs and will see what I'm in the mood for each morning!

I still owe you a beer. I regret that I didn't get a chance to buy you one last year at the banquet while I was at your table. If I see you in the hall, I'm gonna grab a beer and bring it to you.

Carleton

.

I printed out 3x4" mailing labels of my Avatar so you can see it's me, and will be wearing an Arsenal jersey every day of the Con so it's even easier.

I'm just starting to go bald so, in a mid-life crises of vanity I suppose, I started wearing mutton chops about two years ago. So, I have mutton chops.

Here is a pic of me (before the mutton chops) driving Paizo employee Scott Keim to Paizo when first got the job.
