Paizo website was not available for me this morning. The problem corrected itself an hour or so later, so my campaign wasn't impacted. Also, one of my players seems to have structural problems getting access. The website stability still seems worrisome.

Yes, I have visited all Paizo Cosmic Captive threads noting the problem. BTW, for those of you not on the GM Emergency Hangout, you might want to consider joining. It's a good way of tracking who can get in and who cannot.

At the moment those in the Netherlands and those on Mobile can get in. Others cannot. We're hoping that this situation will clear up soon.

So should I be pushing my players to be done with the intro encounter? I mean they are doing well, but they aren't done.

Liberty's Edge 3/5

I did with mine/ours, on the basis of feedback that some tables are well into the first expedition. The one I'm playing in is at the second combat!

HMM, will there be a link where we can see reporting successes? It would be useful for us to calibrate our tables.

Ok, well there were some shenanigans but they finally finished that earth elemental. Burrow + Reach. Too bad I couldn't get them on concealment.

Cosmic Captive Reporting Successes -- There's only been eight so far, and half of the successes have come from the ACG tables, which is about what I'd expect from this early in the Special.

I expect that some tables will race ahead, and others will take things more slowly. I do agree that it is probably time to wrap up that first encounter by the crater.

Hmm

Liberty's Edge 3/5

I have a missing player, has not posted since Sunday. Attempted contact through Paizo but no avail. Should I wait or should I start looking for a replacement from the waiting list?

4/5 5/5

What I did was post a link to a google hangout on
my map page

There is not much activity there, but it is nice to know that we can connect this way if needed. It does assume that the players want to continue with the game though.

I would give it a few more days, with the site outage recently we should be relaxed about players not posting for a few days. Bot him and move on for now.

Liberty's Edge 3/5

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I did put up a message board on my maps page, he has reached me through it last night. He's still having access issues to paizo. Thanks, Good advice Magabeus.

He's *still* having access issues? Oh dear. I was hoping that most of our players had found us again!

Hmm, my GM Alias, Our Mysterious Benefactor, has disappeared from the Cosmic Captive success reporting form. I'd like to report a Success in the Vault Entrance, C-2.

It what?

Let me fix that. Weird. Three of my GMs disappeared from the form. They're back now!

Hey Cosmic GMs,

I hope you are all having a great summer, whether in the US for the Fourth of July holiday, or elsewhere. After a mammoth post from me, we will be launching into Part III after noon CST (or 5pm UTC) on July 5th, 2017. Immediately after that, I go on vacation to GM at a local convention. Your Backup Overseer is Chris Marsh (Dungeon Master S).

So here’s what happens On July 5th, so you can prepare:

★ - ACG STUFF - ★

In Part III, the tables will be hopping -- literally! Every three days, the Overseer is going to go to your tables and tell one of your players to JUMP, taking their “cards” with them. Your first jump will come from Backup Overseer Chris, but I look forward to making you guys hop when I come back!

★ - RPG STUFF - ★

Part III starts with your players either flying or “hitching a ride” on to an asteroid that will take them to the next section.

★ - ANTICIPATED QUESTIONS ABOUT HITCHING A RIDE - ★:

BYPASSING H1 & H2 WITH FLIGHT

Q: Can my players use Boots of the Cat to leap all the way down?
A: Sure, just like they can choose to fall and take damage. Give them 20 hitpoints worth of falling damage (min damage for the fall) and 2d6 x APL damage from hitting asteroids on the way down.

Q: Can my players glide down with racial abilities? They are gripplis, tengus etc.
A: Sure. So long as they can glide for ten minutes and make the flight check, they’re golden.

Q: Can my players use a Flight potion to bypass encounters H1 and H2?
A: Not unless they’re very high level alchemists and brewed the potions themselves. Your standard PFS potion of Fly lasts 5 minutes. They need ten minutes of flight.

Q: Can my players drink *multiple* potions of Fly to bypass encounters H1 and H2?
A: Sure, if they want to burn that kind of cash! They need two standard potions to get ten minutes of flight.

Q: Can flying characters carry other characters?
A: If you can fly in full plate, you can carry someone else. You cannot have weapons out while carrying that other person. Do give them encumbrance penalties and reduce flight speed as applicable.

Q: My players have this crazy scheme involving two natural flyers, a net, and a wand of ant haul... Can the two flyers carry the rest of the party down in a jury-rigged contraption?
A: If your players have this kind of inventiveness and chutzpah, I say let them go for it.

Some things to consider:
A -- Weight encumbrance while flying. D&D 3.5 once had a line about natural flyers only being able to fly with a light load. Pathfinder REMOVED that rule. Allow medium encumbrance, and consider allowing heavier since we’re on a low gravity asteroid. Do give them a reasonable penalty for encumbrance on their flight checks for pulling this stunt, but let them do it.

B -- The net or whatever they’re using has to be big enough and strong enough to hold their weight, or they have to use some other effect (feather fall, reduce person, to lighten the load, or reinforce it.). So long as they’re doing SOMETHING to reinforce, let that work.

C -- Players using magic can fly in full plate. Because magic is ‘woo!’

H1 -- CLIMBING DOWN

Although this sounds complicated, it’s pretty simple. Climb down to an asteroid and then fight. The ropes are knotted, so it is a climb check that parties can do. The climb stays only 15 feet down, even though the floating island moves twenty feet a round. Some ranged mages and such will want to hang on ropes and blast. Great! If they do that, feel free to have cultists throw their daggers to cut the rope.

ANTICIPATED QUESTIONS & COMPLICATIONS

Q: Tiers 5-8 have Crypt Things with a teleport ability. They will attempt to teleport your players 300 feet up. How does a player who is 300 feet up get down?
A: Remember the supplies that everyone was issued on Page 6? Now is a good time to remind your players that they have snap leaves. While players cannot use feather fall to fall for miles through the churning maelstrom of asteroids, they CAN use feather fall to fall 300 feet back down to their asteroid.

Q: My players don’t have 300 feet of knotted rope. What do I do?
A: The scenario specifies knotted rope. Assume the society support staff is providing the knotted rope to each party out of whatever bag of holding they were using for supplies.

H2 TWISTY PASSAGES

Skill checks! Lots of skill checks! When in doubt, ask each other or Dungeon Master S!

This should be fun, but the successes that we need to earn start in H3, so try to move your groups through H1 & H2 as quickly as you can so we can start solving our puzzle! We have 21 out of the 300 clues we need, so get cracking!

I’ll see you all again July 9th or 10th at the latest!

Hmm

4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ****

At this point GMs, please have your players roll for boons. A 19 or a 20 will win a boon. Yes, you can roll too!

Hmm

Lantern Lodge

I've got a winning player! I suppose we wait for the game to end and fill it in the reporting form, yes? :)

4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ****

Yes, you input that with the reporting form!

Hmm
