Does anyone wild shape into a plant at all during battles? or is a Huge animal such as an allosaurus superior than say a Corpse Lotus plant.
This would be at level 12 lets say. Seem's like damage wise the allosaurus can outproduce even the strongest of plants. Could I get some advice on this? When would be the optimal time for becoming a plant? The movement speed hindrance isn't such a big deal when one can cast greater longstrider, do they have any other weaknesses?

The thing with Plant Shape that makes it at all worthwhile when compared to the Beast Shape section of wild shape is the special abilities plants get. An Allosaurus can generally outdamage the plants, but when it comes to battlefield debuff with abilities like grab, constrict and various poisons, and also defences with energy resistances etc. the plants come out on top. So for pure damage, animal (or elemental) wild shapes are a lot stronger, but for a more general combat form with defences and debuffs, plant forms can be useful.

Wolventad hit it right on the head: Beast Shapes have more raw damage output, but Plant Shapes get some ridiculous stuff. At level 12, their Strength bonus is higher than their Beast Shape counterpart, they get less penalty to Dexterity, and a big boost to their Constitution. Plant Shapes will go on for much longer than the Beast Shapes would. Moreover, you get some incredibly powerful abilities, such as built-in DR, Regeneration, and automatic Energy Resistances (and weaknesses).
The only downside is that you don't get any movement speeds, so if you want to fly or have raw damage output, Beast Shape is still your way to go, but if you want to tank, go with Plants.
Source: Played a Treesinger Druid until level 12, that thing's nuts.

Indeed thank you both. Seems like plants need a bit of a buff. Since after level 12 the melee druid starts to fade. You could say level 8 they are in one of there strongest forms (mid game) then decline in terms of DPR.
Absolutely. I've been playing an admittedly highly unoptimised Treesinger Druid (who can only wild shape into plants) and there is a noticeable difference between some of the other druids I play with and my own combat abilities, let alone that of my sapling treant companion.
It takes the plant shapes a bit longer to come online in terms of the powerful tanky versatility, while beast shape can fly, pounce and do high DPR from early on. I feel like levels 8-12 are where the plant shape shines for Treesinger at least (you have most of the good offensive abilities at 8, and get most of the good defensive abilities at 12). There just isn't as many options for the plant shape, given that you don't get the movement speeds.Hopefully the balance of plant shape will be addressed in the upcoming Ultimate Wilderness, given that there is going to be a shifter class, and also through Bestiary 6 (in which it has been confirmed there will be new plant creatures).
