Between catfolk, skinchangers, birdfolk, foxfolk, three types of snakefolk... I find it a bit hard to claim that "oh gosh, rat anthropomorphs are clearly stolen from this one other specific game".
You'd think so, right? Yet, Ratfolk aren't a D&D race at all, and were actually introduced by GW. And really, the whole RPG idea is actually rather new, in human timeline anyway. I'm always amazed that there haven't always been RPGs.
And I said rip off, not stolen. Very common and approved of for games in this genre (fantasy games) to rip off, and build upon, the ideas of other games within the same genre. My point wasn't to complain about rats in Pathfinder, I like them, but ARG certainly seems to describe them in an iffy manner for a player race. I don't own the Monster Codex or the Inner Sea Race Guide (on the long to-buy list), so I don't have that material to reference.
Anyway, John asked by what I meant by "iffy" and I was just trying to explain where I'm coming from. Hope that did it.

Classes I have never seen played in PFS(including pregens):
Vigilante
Made one as part of my Summoner "family" (Husband Summoner, Wife Eidolon, herald and squire vanities as their twin daughters, scholar for their only son).
One of the twins has secretly joined the pathfinder society on their own in their "secret identity" because "Dad and Mum would so, so kill me if he knew I was doing this instead of going to the snooty Taldan school their spending good money for. I'll go do something safe, like routinely lying to the high level Paladin whose faction I joined."

Thought about making a Treesinger Druid. Then I saw how limited how Plant Companions and Wild Shape Plant were. I have not seen anyone play a Treesinger in the Chicagoland area.
One of my first characters was a Treesinger. That guy was awesome. Probably not the strongest build around, but certainly one of the most fun. Plant companions aren't great, but they're not terrible, either.
In general, I find race-specific archetypes a lot cooler than most other archetypes. I'm not sure if they're more powerful, but most of them certainly have cooler abilities.

-4 My only Seeker is an Arcane Archer. Not sure I've seen another.
-5 I have a Halfling investigator who took a dip into Pathfinder Delver, which I've never seen another PC with any of the "Pathfinder" named prestige classes.
-9 My undead bloodline Sorcerer will be going into the Soul Warden prestige class.
-10 My gunslinger is going into the Shieldmarshal prestige class.
-6 is also in a prestige class, but it's Dragon Disciple on Core
So, over half of my non-dead PCs have prestige classes, with most of them being unusual prestige classes.

"Marzie-baby, don't get so down on yourself. You are unique! You are all right in my book!" says an enthusiastic rat pimp. "In fact, I'll set you up with just the right date to make you forget your troubles."
Lucius is a ratfolk Thassalonian Love Specialist. Sure, many would say he's a lust wizard, but he'll be the first to tell you that what he sells is love... even if for the moment. So what if his favorite spell is unnatural lust. Sometimes that's extended, often persistent. And almost always followed by Riddywhipple, the Pimp Dragon, using a wand of deja vu on the target as a follow-up.
World, I want to take this opportunity to apologize. You may blame me for Lucius.
May Asmodeus have mercy on my soul.

Things that are rare elsewhere seem to be popular where I am. I don't see many single class fighters, but I've played with at least four of them locally. Wizards are rather popular. Half the witches that I've met don't mess with slumber hex, and do other things like misfortune, healing, flight. I've seen quite a few psychic classes, vigilantes, wayangs, etc.
I have seen only one ratfolk -- Jack's Lucious Lucius. But really, he has enough personality for ten other PCs!
Jerks are the rarest sighting, frankly. Just about everyone I've played with in Minnesota has been awesome.
Stuff that I want to see more: Female Players and GMs. Under twenty percent of our player base locally appears to be female. I want more women in PFS!
Hmm
You may want to revise that estimate upwards.
No slumber hex witches? Yer welcome.

Leg --
I do see women at a few locations. Fantasy Flight and the Source always get a good share. But when I look across locations over all, or see us at SkalCon, I see about 1 in 6 females. We may have them as members, but not enough seem to become regulars. The good news is that the women we get who become enthusiastic also become GMs and organizers. How do we get more of our female members to become more active?
And yes, I know that locally you've encouraged witches to try other things than slumber hex. The Minnesota leadership has always been great.
Hmm

Oh, it went to town on us. Not sure what you mean by "punt us," but he opened with a breath attack I think, then was a whirlwind of attacks. Our Barbarian nearly bought it, but barely survived. Our tactic mainly consisted of making sure he couldn't full attack, because then it'll end you.

I know Scarred Lands from White Wolf had ratfolk. As did Legend of the Five Rings and Wicked fantasy. If I remeber correctly, Games Workshop was around earlier then White wolf, but skaven werent introduced untill 4th edition of warhammer, which is after White Wolf was founded.
I'd say its probably pretty close.

Anthropomorphic rats aren't exactly that out there, though the ratfolk's tinkerer/scrounger aesthetic does remind me a bit of skaven technology (though not as high tech or pronounced, of course).
They're also similarly sized, whereas the L5R nezumi and the Scarred Lands rats are human sized, for whatever that's worth.
I'd kill for an ART that gives medium sized ratfolk.

I actually encountered "Ratmen" first in a Glen Cook novel ("Sweet Silver Blues") which was first published in '87... Though I can also recall running across them in older Sci-Fi works ("Star Man's Son" by Andre Norton writen in 1952 for one...).
I think I first encountered a "Rat-Person" PC in a RPG in a game of Gama World (or Metamorphosis Alpha?) back in the 1980s...
So, I'm not sure if the Ratfolk in PFS are from GW Skaven... aren't PFS Ratfolk more like Pack-Rats?

Yeah, the Cook detective series cuts a wide swath through a lot of fantasy ideas. Fun reading though.
I would have to say the Fafhrd and Grey Mouser stories were my first exposure as well. Unless the Nutcracker Suite counts.

The Racial archetypes, equipment and spells are dead on for the Skaven. The background information differs, but mechanically, they only have skaven specific options in the ARG (Skaven use pistols, tail weapons, disease warfare, bites, and so forth).
As an aside, if looking for a good model to represent your ratfolk, the GW skaven line has EVERY ratfolk racial option represented on a model.

More female players? I want to see more female half-orcs!
All jest aside, for some races I barely see one of their sexes... we need more Dwarven females, Kitsune males, Gnome females, Wayang females! Equality for Golarion!
There is never any need for more Gnomes of any kind whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure male kitsune don't exist. No matter what Alex Augunas might say. ;)
Most of the Kitsune I've played with are male. In addition to Rosc's agent, I've seen a buff kitsune gunslinger, kitsune swashbucklers, a kitsune warpriest, and kitsune bards and mesmerists that have been male.
I am currently playing a gnome female named Cup, but she so far has met no cute male gnomes!
I've seen lots of female half-orcs, but most of them are still warrior-types.
Hmm

"I don't know what you are taking about! Gnomes are totally cool! We are the best adventurers... hey what is that? Is that a...." Glastor states before wandering off to see a brightly colored thrush.
Glastor has been referred to as the most gnomish gnome folks have ever seen. A combination of Janira and Kreighton Shane, pumped up on hype.

I brought a medium to today's game, and there was a male kitsune fighter with 3 tails at the table. It was my first time playing a medium - it's just a single level dip that I just took for this PC.

He most frequently channels the spirit of champion Druvin Guest, orating in much the same way that Janira does.
In combat he makes good use of a bow.
Out of combat he obsesses over how to best name his chronicles.

I have 2 female Gnomish characters (an original Summoner, and that True Silvered Throne Shaman I mentioned), and a female Half-Orc Investigator (the one of Spiritualist Archetype I mentioned).
