Class Levels and Prestige Classes

Rules Questions

I'm kind of confused as to the wordings of prestige classes and classes with abilities that scale on class abilities; I could really use some help with this.

EXAMPLE:
A level 2 Psion gets Nomad's Step.
"Nomad’s Step (Su) At 2nd level, as long as you maintain psionic focus, as a standard action you may teleport to a location up to 15 feet away. You must have line of sight to the location and you can bring along possessions that amount to as much as a medium load. The distance increases by 5 feet every psion level thereafter."

Key phrase: The distance increases by 5 feet every PSION level thereafter.

If you take a prestige class, does the level of that prestige class add onto your psion level for the purposes of numerics? I'm not talking about powers etc, I'm talking about class features that scale off your class level. If i'm a lvl 2 nomad with a prestige class lvl 2 on it, does the numeric of my nomad step go up? Would my teleport range be 25 instead of 15?

I know that most prestige classes dont give you class features, but i wasnt sure if that was strictly a class feature, or what the rulings on class level are when taking prestige classes. Does taking 2 levels in a prestige class make your psion effective level 4 instead of 2 for the purposes of numeric based abilities?

My guess is no, but I have no idea for sure, was hoping to get some questions about that.

Just to restate, i'm not talking about spells known, spells per day etc, as I know prestige classes specify that. I'm specifically asking about Class Level numerics, and how prestige classes effect that for class abilities.

(Also, i'm aware that psionics are 3rd party, but the principal would be the same for all other classes in a similar situation, this was just the only specific instance that I can think of on the spot)

Anyhow, any clarification on this would be great, thanks!

No.
Class abilities are specific to your class. Nomad's Step is a class ability.

Some prestige classes specifically advance the class abilities of an earlier class most notably spell casting.
To see what I mean check out:

K, thats basically what i was needing. I just wasnt sure if prestige classes changed your effective class level or not. Thanks for the swift response!
