Rounding out the party

Scarab Sages

Good morning!

I finally get to play in a campaign after GMing for eternity. We'll be playing Strange Aeons.

I've already got my character (Vivisectionist using the Aberrant and Aquatic mutagen discoveries from Gothic Campaign Compendium for body horror fun).

We also have an Exposed Vigilante (Warlock) using talents and feats from N Jolly's legendary vigilante and a Human Incanter (SoP) who's going to be focused on healing and buffs.Psychic

I think we have ranged damage covered (warlock), decent melee (natural attack alchemist), good support (incanter) and we're fairly good for skills in general.

My friend who's fairly new to the game has asked me to help him make a character. In the last game (and his first) he played a bloodrager and he says he found it boring to just hit things in combat, so steering away from melee. At the same time they're fairly new to the game so I don't want to many moving parts.

3rd party is available for use.
20 point buy
Core races, human preferred.
Thematic for a horror campaign

I was thinking that we don't have a full spell caster so maybe a psychic or a sorcerer but I just don't know.

Please, help me out

Sorcerer seems like a good fit if you want a full caster for someone with limited playing experience.

Psychic takes a little more to figure out (including the different nature of psychic spells vs arcane/divine spells), whereas the srocerer gives a lot of spells p[er day, but doesn;t require the player to hand--sletec his spells everyday.

There are lots of flavourful bloodlines to choose from, as well. Perhaps the Wildblooded options of Void-Touched or Warped for this campaign.

Sorcerer should be relatively simple, but he may need a bit of help with the early spell selection. I would say that a summoner may also be fun for him, and if he is using the pre-unchained spell list, it does not lag far behind 9-level casters.

An oracle would actually be another good choice - I am not familiar with the incanter, but unless their spell list is very close to the cleric´s, the oracle definitely has a niche in this party. It is also a bit hardier than the sorcerer, in case your friend wants to do a bit of melee combat, and some of the curses can be quite flavorful for a horror campaign.

Scarab Sages

I forgot all about the summoner, I think they'll like that.

So I made a Master Summoner with the eidolon being a trap-finder/scout as we don't have one.

Good call on Oracle. I'd be thinking purely arcane, but I agree that an Oracle could be a good fit for both campaign and party.

From a flavour perspective, the Dark Tapestry and Occult mysteries might be a good fit for the campaign, though I also like Time, Juju and Spellscar depending on the concept. The Blackened, Haunted, Infested, Shattered Psyche, Tongues and Wasting curses could all work, as well.
