GMing Iron Gods: Fires of Creation at Home. Credit?

Hey there, everyone. I'm incredibly new to this whole PFS thing. As in I haven't actually even played a game yet. But could someone break down for me how exactly credit and GM chronicle sheets for running APs works? Especially if I'm not using the PFS rules when I'm running this. I'm actually running Fires of Creation in three different groups, a home game, a roll20 game, and a PbP game on another site. My understanding is that I can only claim credit for one of these groups, if they finish the sanctioned sections, as if I used a pregen character. But how to I go about recording that I did indeed GM this AP and apply the credit to a character? Part of the issue is probably that I also don't understand how applying credit from a pregen character to an actual character works, but I also don't really get any of the GM side of PFS and how that functions.

EDIT: Also, does this pregen credit prevent me from claiming GM credit for Fires of Creation if I eventually decided to GM an actual PFS play through of the permitted sections?

When you are playing (or GMing) a full Adventure Path (as opposed to just the sanctioned sections) you are free to play them with any house rules you want. The characters do not have to be PFS legal. (However you can't play one of these campaign characters in a PFS scenario no matter what.)

When you finish the part called out in the sanctioning document (Part 3 to the end of the book for Fires of Creation) each of the players and the GM receives a chronicle sheet for that part (Fires of Creation). At that point you have two choices for how to apply the chronicle:
1. Give it to a brand new 1st level PFS character. Reduce the gold earned to 1,398. You may not use any of the boons on that chronicle until your character reaches the minimum level of the chronicle. (So level 2 for Fires of Creation.)
2. Assign it to an existing PFS character. If the character is of the appropriate level (2-4 for Fires of Creation) you immediately receive full gold an access to all the boons. If the character is not yet high enough level it is "held" and you get no benefit (XP, gold, Fame, boons, etc.) until the character reaches the minimum level (2 for Fires of Creation) at which point it is immediately applied to that character as if fully earned. You may not apply a chronicle to a character who would be too high for the chronicle (5+ for Fires of Creation).

Two other points:
1. This does count as GM credit for PFS. If you GM it again using the PFS sanctioned portions you do not get another chronicle but you do get credit toward your GM stars. Ditto for the other campaign groups you are running.
2. At least 3 of your players must also accept the chronicle sheets in order to meet the minimum PFS table size.

But, none of my players are in PFS. How exactly does that work? Give them the sheets even if they have no intention of using them?

Sure. Ask them if they're okay making a Paizo account, and if they want to play PFS in the future then they'll already have a few credits on their account. If not, it's no loss.

Thanks, Kevin and Keirine, think I get it now. I was confused as to why they'd even give PFS credit for a non-PFS game, so I probably wouldn't have figured that out on my own.
