Aberus nodded. "Excellent, Telerin. Alroric, it's a good idea, but it might keep us from seeing, too." He thought for a second than said, "You know, we can probably just open the door and walk out there. That would be a lot less suspicious than sneaking around. But, if we can open it just enough, and quietly enough, for Telerin to set off her spell without them knowing the door opened at all... Alexa? Can you keep this thing from making any noise?"
I assume the hinges and lock mechanism for the guard post are on our side of the door.

Sneaky's fine with me. The surprise attack is a time-honored military tactic, and not the sort of deception that I, as a paladin,

Haven't had a free second through the weekend! Then I got sick today! Ironically, being sick today meant I had a free minute... assuming the website doesn't go down again!
Ithilwen concentrates on the silver scale and assumes the form of one of the mongrelfolk you previously dispatched. Then she opens the door, steps into the entryway on the other side, and says, "New orders from Hosilla! The new recruits are going to help press the attack against our enemies."
Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
The mongrelfolk guards straighten up and look surprised. "We're going now?" one of them says.
Ithilwen gestures back at the group and says, "They aren't here just for show! Make room so we can get ready for the attack."
The mongrelfolk clutch their crude weapons and shift about with a mixture of discomfort (at the thought of being in a fight) and excitement (at the though of finally defeating their enemies).
You are free to move about on the map outside the door; the mongrelfolk think you are on their side. You can launch your surprise attack when you are ready. You will each have a surprise action, so if you position yourselves appropriately you should have no problem opening with a savage volley.
