There could be aliens whose way of life is absolutely abhorrent to standard humanoid conventions and vice versa. Such as one that is required to kill and eat their mate in order to reproduce. It's not seen as evil because it's necessary, and their culture is shaped by that biological necessity.
But I don't know if we'll get that kind of depth, at least not initially. Creature entries only get a short description.
This reminds me of Dorsai (I think). There was an amphibian species, and the male would rush in and fight and/or eat as many tadpoles as he could so only the strong, fast, tough, and/or lucky would survive.

Or a species that is only sapient for one period of its life or in one temporary state it can take under certain conditions.
And imagine a species that reproduces by exploding, scattering its remains over an area that then roots itself and grows into new individuals. Once mature, they uproot and become 'people'.
Weird but plausible stuff.

The kafers from 2300AD (GDW, now Mongoose). Normally rather stupid (though sapient), but their equivalent to an adrenaline rush affected their brains and turned them from a stupid shambling mob into really smart tacticians. As they engaged more and more in combat through their lives, their 'base' intelligence increased slowly so they'd be smarter in everyday life and genius-level in danger. If you want to make a kafer pay attention to you, you hit it; not to make it obey but to make it smart enough to understand your commands.

Sure, but more unique culturally to reflect that, rather than being a bunch of Cockney hooligans.

The Gowachan, from Frank Herbert's novels Whipping Star and The Dosadi Experiment.
(The Dorsai are from various works by Gordon R. Dickson.)

I would like to see a dinosaur planet. Dinosaurs aren't copyrighted so they can be implemented easily enough.
This is an image of Cretaceous Earth, it is an Earth that actually existed 65 million years ago, and it is an Earth with the more interesting dinosaurs.

But if you want something less prehistorical, if you want to just throw whatever dinosaurs are in there how about a Terraformed Venus?

This picture is from the surface of a terraformed Venus with dinosaurs on it, the "Moon: in this picture is Mercury. Just a bit of digital manipulation actually, the original artwork had Earth's moon in it.

I realize that this may be an unpopular opinion, but Humans.
I'd like them to be core (they may be, I'm not sure) so that way I know, within the setting, we made it. We're still a thriving people/culture. I know it's a little nonsensical, and probably vain, but there you have it.
Do not worry, humans are one of the seven core races, along with ratfolk, lashunta, androids, kasatha, and two unknowns.
