I want to make a gunslinger who uses a pistol but the range on them is only 20ft, so I was thinking about giving it the Distance special ability from UE which "doubles the range increment of others of its kind." My question is if I do this and I fire from 40ft away will my attacks still count as touch attacks?

Yes...
From Early Firearms
When firing an early firearm, the attack resolves against the target's touch AC when the target is within the first range increment of the weapon, but this type of attack is not considered a touch attack for the purposes of feats and abilities such as Deadly Aim..
Distance doubles that range increment to include the first.
Try that on a Musket 80'!

I never got into the double-barreled firearms, I knew sooner or later they would change they way they worked. It took a long time but they finally did in the last Ultimate Equipment Errata, you can no longer take a full attack firing both barrels at once, it is now a attack action.

Still good for things. I have a +1 Conductive D-B Musket called the "Countess' (due to a certain boon).
I throw in two alchemical charges (Grenadier Alchemist) + Bomb + 2 Bullets (2d12) makes for a nasty hit.. (or more typically) Single shot as above, move action to move clear of the area.. next round resume.. then two paper cartridges.

That is still a very nice bonus at low levels, and at high levels, you can still move and double shoot, or double shoot in the surprise round, or ready an action to double shoot the mage when he starts casting, and really ruin his day (especially nice with the black powder interjection trait)

Got to level 8 with just the starting Pistol, upgraded as Fame/Money allowed.
I got the Double-barreled Musket for the option to give 'both barrels' or reload after two...
I'm built for Vital Strike, not 'Bullet Storm' cheese.
My Double-barreled Musket is more of a Designated Marksman's Rifle... Hence the Far-Reaching Sight... I can take a Full-Round Action to make a single shot against Touch, regardless of Range Increment...
My Pistol will probably be gaining the Distance special ability next...

That is what my main character, Kyrie is built for.
Cause Vital Strikining with a TW/MW Railgun is sooooo much fun.
