Perhaps!

Firearms, seige engines, and tanks are a fair starting baseline in that case, and those are... pretty potent. (Also hardness/energy damage halving of metals compared to their effects in a given universe against weaponry.)

Nonetheless, those are just guesses and baselines - until actual Starfinder rules come out, we're left just as ad hocing things from our own guess works and particular need preferences. :)

Jeez, what kind of tank is that. That thing is like more than 3 times the size of an Abrams tank.

A two story tall tank and the ramming damage is only equal to 8 sword strikes?! A tank like that could roll over entire houses like man walking across the lawn. Mechwarrior/battletech tanks are smaller than that. In fact, small battletech mechs would barely top it for height, and even an atlas would be lightweight in comparison, except for armament (which is oddly lacking for such a massive tank.).

Am I missing something here?

I have a setting where a bunch of tech is built on magic. I also run the magic in a more scifi-ish way rather than the classic magic is a blackbox "no idea it works it just does" thing. So a lot of common spells just don't exist.

But they do have spaceships, though there has not yet been colonies and stuff outside their star system yet. Of course, having a massive death star like ship come down and steal nearly a quarter of the planet's population of every species of animal and plant, sentients included, does tend to make a nation focus on home defenses before poking any unknown star systems that might be hiding massive enemies.
