2-2D Seems to have a fundamental error

In this scenario, all the banes are in a "robber deck". The win condition for this scenario is "To win the scenario, defeat all of the cards in the robber deck while at least 1 location is open."
Taking damage removes cards from the location decks. When a location deck is empty, "you may close that location automatically."

Surely this is not meant to be optional. Else no one would ever close a location, and the win condition time pressure is lessened.
I'm going to recommend to my group to make closing an empty location non-optional. Can we get official confirmation this is the intention?

(I know Keith posted in this thread that he wanted to make changes to this scenario, but so far those haven't been published.)

I've been asking about this since April 8. The lack of resolution has been... disheartening.

That scenario is not printed as intended. Hopefully it will be addressed at some point. Addressing it is not within my power.

I do realize that. I didn't mean to make sound otherwise. We're waiting on the PSACG Powers That Be.

It's also really hard to encounter any boons in the scenario. Detect Magic might let you do it. Scouting cards are also fairly worthless as they look at location decks, which you really only interact with as counters, and not the robber deck.

When I played it I just took my card feat and no upgrade. Adventure 2 in general was pretty upgrade poor for me, I got 3 total, one of which was a B card.

As a side effect, it makes the Ambush barrier unchallenging : the locations decks contain no monsters.

That's the upside of losing all scouting ability (Augury, Scrying, Alahazra's ability, Harsk's ability, Spyglass, you name it...)

I can't look from my phone; do the current rules still let you roll to add extra cards until you have enough of an upgrade pool to match 1 per character?

Yes.

Begin by sorting all newly acquired cards by card type and place them in the center of the play area. Identify new cards by the Adventure Path logo in the upper right corner. If the number of cards in the play area is less than the number of players, roll 1d6 and consult the table below. Add a random card of that type to the play area. Continue rolling and adding until the number of cards is equal to the number of players.

d6 Card Type
1 Weapon
2 Spell
3 Armor
4 Item
5 Ally
6 Blessing

I actually got a 2 spell out of this scenario when I played with my solo 4-character group, using the table.

Okay, good. Thanks.

Yep, those rules are still there. Think I rolled a weapon on my solo Enora, so effectively nothing.

Since this has come up locally by me too - my advice is to consult with your local Venture Officers on this one.

VOs - There is a discussion about this particular scenario elsewhere that you can view, if that helps, pending a permanent "fix".

2-2D will soon be updated with the following changes.

In During This Scenario, "when a location deck has no cards, you may close that location automatically" is changing to "when a location deck has no cards, that location automatically closes".

Also, the following will be added to the existing reward: "Each character may choose a boon from the location decks. Pathfinder Adventure Card Guild characters may use it as a deck upgrade instead of the standard deck upgrade. (Multiple PFSACG characters may choose the same boon.)"
