Non-reader, watched the first 4 episodes over the last 2 days. So, are we supposed to care about the characters? Because I found no reason to care about the 4 suspected dragons throughout 4 episodes. The magic lady and her warder? There's a little to work with there, but mostly because of him. Too many sweeping wide shots of landscapes. Each one takes me out of what little engagement I have with each episode. I don't get it.
That's pretty much my point exactly. I watched the first 3, and have decided I care so little about the characters I'm done. There's way better stuff to watch now. If I ever get a dry spell maybe I'll head back to WOT, but I doubt that.

I think they are doing a fairly good job now. Particularly trying to keep up the mystery of "Who is the Dragon" If I hadn't read the books already I would be guessing Nynaeve at this point, because damn that was an impressive burst of power.
There is no way anyone in that camp is going to let her not go to the tower

Yeah because in the books (for more than few chapters) you had to wonder if they would.

I dunno, why do you CARE about anything? I mean it seems mostly that if the characters aren't there acting FOR you, it doesn't matter. Now, admittedly the book characters are different from the ones in the show some times, but if you can't find something to care about....then maybe you need to find a new series. I mean I get that you might not feel this show, but if you're going to complain and complain, I feel that adds little to the narrative point.

You know, thinking back on the books...Nynaeve is the one who pulls off like 80% of the really crazy stuff.
Like any time she got told "That's not possible" her main response is "I'll make it possible out of sheer spite"
(often followed up by "I shouldn't have done that")

If a television series or a film with a large ensemble cast can’t create characters for an audience to invest in, or care about, enough to return week after week - it is highly unlikely for it to continue to be on the air.

You could just do what Thomas does. When there is a thread about a show/movie you dont like, just threadcrap it into a Marvel thread.

That may be. I am not disputing that this series might end. What I am saying is seems that if anyone is threadcrapping it's guys like Pan (who can't seem to stop themselves) and Tristan who complain relentless about the fact they can't be invested this series. So maybe they should go somewhere else.
Also Grey is kind of right, Nynaeve did do some crazy stuff.
Also yes you don't know what you're talking about because if you had BOTHERED with the books you might see that they had to cut WAY more than what you're complaining about now that I think MIGHT make it more worthwhile watching. But if you can't see that...then you don't know.
Also like to add I wasn't the one that thread crapped Spider-man No way home into thread lock...

Wow! stunning Episode 4 across the board! Maria Doyle Kennedy's dialog with Perrin brought me to tears; heartfelt and utterly touching, I have put her on my must watch list. Her acting is impeccable. Also, Zoe Robbins is superbly intense and I think we'll now have to follow her very closely in anything she touches from now on (no need to go back and check her earlier Power Rangers debut I'm sure, but yep; I don't think she'll be doing anything low budget from here on end!)
This show rocks across the board. It's got an amazing kickass Lion Blade style bard that can fight off Nazguls too. :)

Okay, there’s a lot in that last post there so let’s break it into chunks. First off, Tristan correctly pointed out the number of times they had posted. I’m very curious how one post equals “complaining relentlessly.”
Secondly the only person you directly address is me, so I’m unsure who the statement about complaints about what was cut and the “if you BOTHERED with the books” statement is targeted toward, because I’ve said nothing that would link to either of this statements.
Thirdly, accusing other people of thread crapping in a response to me makes it seem like I brought up the topic of threadcrapping. I did no such thing.
Bringing up the Spider-Man thing is also rather strange because no one is thread crapping here, they’re just talking about aspects of this series that you don’t particularly want to talk about, which they are of course allowed to do.

1. I have not complained relentlessly. I made one post. Maybe instead of telling me to go somewhere else Thomas you should acknowledge i made one post.
2. If i have to read the source material then the television version fails. If it doesn't hold up under its own merits it fails.
Someone expressing an opinion you don’t agree with may feel like threadcrapping to you, but it isn’t.

Maria Doyle Kennedy is outstanding. She has a very young appearance in the movie THE COMMITMENTS but a lot of her top-tier stuff has come in the last decade and a bit: THE TUDORS (she played Catherine of Aragon); ORPHAN BLACK (she's a series regular, playing the adopted mother of the protagonist); and OUTLANDER (where she has a recurring role in the later seasons). Plus a ton of guest appearances on things.
Truth to be told, Ila is way too small a role for an actress of her stature and reportedly they wanted her for a much bigger role, but she's refocused on her singing career recently and decided not to do so many big acting roles, which is fair enough.

I've been hesitant about both Orphan Black and Outlander, but perhaps now it is time... :)

So far, I'm loving all the channeling going on, and getting to see the Greens in particular cutting loose during the combat scenes just blowing stuff up, very fun!
I dug Orphan Black for a season or two, it really trails off tho big time. Maria Doyle Kennedy is good as the nomad philosopher in WoT.
Never been a fan of the Tinkers, but considering where they branch off from...eh. Also I keep wondering now if we'll EVER find out what the Song truly is.

I think they said the song is not the farming song that the dragon reborn remembered. And that was the only song from the age of legends i can remember coming up. The song didn't come up in book 4s big flashback thing. Which makes me think it was something to keep them going after the other excuse to keep moving got dropped off in cloud city.
(book readers SHOULD be able to follow that without spoiling much/anything for show watchers but i'll spoiler things if people can't follow the wolf logic.

Considering the Tinkers already got introduced, I'm pretty sure we're not spoiling much. I mean compared to say a certain guy with fire for eyes and who he might actually be compared to who the characters think he is.

ORPHAN BLACK is complete, and it's better now you can pile through it: the first season is still the best, but Seasons 2-5 are still decent, and in a single viewathon you can keep the three or four different companies/organisations the main characters are dealing with straight, whilst with year-long gaps between seasons it was a bit more of a struggle. Excellent show.
I started OUTLANDER a few years ago but it didn't grab me, and I thought it was better to hold fire until it was done (which it isn't, yet).
My major problem with Outlander is the lack of Scotsmen yelling "There can be Only one!" among other things...
Also do we know if there has been release into the while about the whole animated back story stuff yet? I haven't seen it on my client's fire TV.

I wonder if we’ll ever see another actual Scotsman say that, rather than a Frenchman and an Englishman.

maybe in the reboot. In any case, at least in this show we got some of what the books said. I'm still waiting for someone to say "Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time."

Not sure what you mean here. All four of the animated backstory episodes have been released. They're awkward to access though: you have to start the episode, pause, access the X-Ray menu and play them though there, and some people are reporting issues with getting them working.
There's other extras (an interactive map, behind the scenes documentaries, a short documentary about Robert Jordan), but they change by episode and there isn't a master list of them anywhere. Reportedly Amazon are going to release them in other ways (possibly on YouTube) once the season is over.

Apparently if you grab it with your "fist" with two fingers the arrow goes on the outside, if yougrab it with your thumb and finger it goes on the inside.
So they travel for months by walking, complain about sleeping on the ground, have various dramatic encounters fighting for their lives along the way, yet... walk into Tar Valon clean and with not a thread out of place. WTH?
Well, Moraine and company are traveling with a bunch of servants and one power bathing cantrips are a thing.
Rand and Mat are at least hollywood dirty, Rand mentioned you think they're going to let us in the tower looking like this ?

No they certainly skipped over Whitebridge and Caemlyn plus Min and Elayne. Though maybe they're coming in later and/or second season.

I don't think that's how it works since they need some kind of spark for it work. Conversely removing moisture, easier to do with channeling.
As for why they use horses, a) no Aes Sedai can't fly because they can't remove gravity and they'd be winds so strong they blow everything down. b) because they still want the common folk to not fear them as gods.
I can't explain the road thing, any more than why they call Emond's Field the entire Two Rivers.
I hope so. I'm very much invested in them getting to book 6. *mutters rolling rings of earth and fire...* As for Aes Sedai taking out an army, sure they could...but using the One Power taxes the body pretty hard unless you have an angreal or a sa'angreal. After about a good 40 minutes, even Nyanae will get tired.

Is it me or did they totally skip an entire City and two of Rand's girls?
They couldn't afford to build a massive set for Caemlyn, put it in storage for ~2 seasons to use for one scene and then bring it out of storage again a season and a half later to start using regularly. So they moved the story to Tar Valon, which is a set they'll be using for the entirety of the rest of the series.
Min appears before the end of this season, Elayne appears next season.
I also thought it was weird that they had enough candles and little delicate candle holders, not to mention enough white linens, for each of the dead they were burying. Like how big is their baggage train?
They also defeated a small army lead by the king of Gheldean, not an insignificant country. I'd imagine that as an army they keep extra funeral shrouds around as you know.. occupational hazzard.
I do like the Tinkers, but the redrover defense was a bit eyerolling.

Thanks for the clarity. I do get what you're saying about only using it once this season versus Tar Valon being in just about everything. I just felt annoyed by it and of course very little seen of Whitebridge.

It's always been an eye roll for those of us that read the books and wonder how they stayed alive this long some times.
