Carpet of Flying's Pitiful Speed

Rules Questions

The Carpet of Flying has a speed of 40 (which roughly translates into about 4 miles per hour, I think. Is there anyway to make it go faster? Flying carpets in the movies always just zip along at pretty high rates of speed. 4 miles an hour is a crawl.

Double move. Also, movies don't have to worry about game balance.

I wasn't aware you could make a carpet do a double move. That helps a bit! Thanks!

The carpet of flying is also vastly cheaper than any other flying magical item.

That is very true, That's why my group seems to like it. As well as the fact it can carry them all. I just want it to go faster... lol...

Well, with 40ft per move action, 80 feet per round, (insert math here) I think it comes out to about 9 miles per hour. Which, when accounting for the fact that you can ignore all terrain penalties to over land movement, is pretty outstanding.

i expect most reasonable GMs in a home game would be willing to work on some sort of way to improve the carpet's speed in exchange for additional cost/WBL.

Flying Carpets are for cruising or joining the mile high club, if you want to go fast try saddling up an air or lightning elemental

Shadow Lodge

Or be the air elemental for the druid. :)
