They are under orders from the State. If they go AWOL let them, then maybe have an inquisitor show up shortly thereafter and allow them to explain their situation. They can then tell them to go to the portal and claim it in the name of the Queen.

OK, my fears were not relevant. My group is now at the gates of Fort Arego and they have not yet made up their minds on how to proceed with Fex.

The group now has all ritual components and they bluffed their way around the Glorious reclamation at Fort Arego so far.
There is literally no one in Fort Arego that can look beyond an undetectable alignment. Quite an interesting way to get around some of the encounters.

@KujakuDM: Thanks for your idea!

Since my entire party has access to some form of undetectable alignment, I instead had the Glorious Reclamation counter-spying after Kantaria. The PC's caught one of these spys outside Senara, and found documents with their names, aliases they've used, descriptions, and known abilities (basically what survivors had seen them do).

Not too unbelieveable that the Glorious Reclamation would start to take an interest in the people thwarting all of their plans. Really made the PCs realize undetectable alignment won't solve all their problems any more.

I allowed my group to skip the encounters before Fort Arego, although I though about how well-known they might already be.
As I had a TPK just before storming Valor´s Fastness, it didn´t feel right to have the GR know them.
But in general, I like the idea to make the froup well-known villains that are feared and hunted by the GR.

New Questions:
- in the Dungeons of Fort Arego, there are many large creatures in small rooms. Any comments on how those fights turned out when you played them? I fear this might lead to very static encounters and loss of flavor (eg hellcats have pounce, but the room is to small to use it).

- The Funnel: How did you run this? I am thinking of the Petitioners giving aid another, although they are not really cooperating. without aid another this will just be a time-wasting slaughter of 25 CR1 enemies.

- Is there any devil able to give darkness or even greater darkness? Most devils have see in darkness, but cannot make good use of ot in the dungeons.

Narwhals?

Dead Board is dead. But has anyone else gotten through book 3 yet? I'm about close to starting it and I ***STILL*** have no idea how I'm gonna handle it. The Twist either is gonna come completely out of nowhere. OR I just run the clues as they are written and make plan between the Int 22 Devil and the 23 Int wizard hit every branch on the idiot tree as it goes into motion.

Dark Archive

Does anyone have an updated (corrected) map of Senara? I'm hoping that I can find a map without the underground aqueduct shown. I saw this asked earlier in this thread but there was no response. I was able to find an "alternate" version of a map of Senara, but unsure if this will work. My group is starting Book 3 probably at the start of the year.
Alternate Map of Senara

Dark Archive

Ok, let me ask a different similar question....

Does anyone know the source book this particular map of Senara comes from?

Senara

This map is different than the map of Senara included in The Inferno Gate.
