Where can I download good background music for free?

I want to get a good collection of music for various situations and locations. Tavern, crypt, battle, fairy glade. I've looked and haven't found a lot for free. can anyone point me to a good web site for free sound downloads? I don't want to pirate so they have to be free.

If the sound thing goes over well in my game i may be open to paying for back ground music but if you put a pay site in let me know its a pay one.

I would say You Tube, but there was once an incident where our GM rolled a natural 100 on the random encounter table and got a cave troll. So, he tried to get that one scene from Lord of the Rings. After failing 5 times, and leaving us very confused as to what sounds he was playing and why we could hear a Balrog and some orcs, he finally gave up.

Also I heartily suggest the witcher 3 soundtrack. You might need to borrow a copy off someone though. Don't think it's really available. Can probably find it on YouTube easily enough though.

Not so good for downloads, though, if you want to use the music without an internet connection.

If connected to internet, Youtube has a great selection of stuff, try searching for:

Epic Pirate Music
Epic Adventure Music
etc etc

There are a series of 'epic' mixes that are 1+ hours long, they don't usually have lyrics and make GREAT background music.

I download music from youtube using https://www.tube2mp3.com/. Then you can look in youtube for free background music or free copyright music and just convert the video in a mp3 file.

Kevin Macleod has a large library of free music online. There's a pretty good variety.
