Is a shield champion proficient with a throwing shield?

Rules Questions

The errata fixed the shield champion not being able to actually use a shield, but it's unclear if they're proficient with throwing shields.

Since throwing shields are explicitly listed as exotic weapons, it seems like it would be specifically listed in their weapon proficiency text if they start out knowing his to use them.

On the other hand, throwing shields around is pretty much their entire schtick, so it would make sense if the "all shields as weapons" is meant to include throwing shields.

if it says all, i would figure all. Not sure he needs a throwing shield though.

I'm inclined to agree that a Shield Champion should be proficient with a throwing shield. The description for this weapon says "This shield...."

However, a "throwing shield" works differently than simply throwing a heavy or light light shield not designed for throwing. First, the damage for a "throwing shield" explicitly says you don't get any benefits from throwing a spiked shield. Second, a throwing shield does 1d6 and not the 1d4 of throwing a Heavy Shield.

Contrast this with the Shield Champion feat language which explicitly states that throwing a shield benefits from shield spikes.

Most importantly, a throwing shield allows you to throw the shield as a Free action. I don't know what type of action it is to throw a non-throwing shield.

20' increment is a lot nicer than a 10' increment.
