Bryan Singer breaks down the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer.
It's more interesting in this format.

The more that I think about it the more that I realize that my era of the X-men was from Giant Sized #1 to about #175. That's when I was most excited about that book and for me that's when the book was at it's best.
Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister, The Reavers, The Marauders, Gambit, Jubilee and the million other X-men who came afterwards I'm not as familiar with and I dont have a connection to them.
I also HATED Mohawk Storm for reasons that I wont go into here and really thought they were diluting her character. I didnt start liking or caring about Archangel until Remender's run on UNCANNY X-FORCE.
So this movie, much like Batman v Superman is definitely NOT for me. And that's okay. I'll be waiting for Captain America: Civil War.

So as one who hated the previous XMen movie I didn't exactly approach this trailer with high hopes, but...
why were the exact same shots shown 2-3 times in this trailer? What's the point?
Also, they're giving lots of face time to Jennifer Laurance in the trailer in her human form (not the blue one). Hopefully this is just a marketing choice (more Lawrence in your trailer = moar moneys) and not an indication that she will mostly appear human in the movie.
Honestly? Probably just gonna skip going to the movies for this one. I'll catch it later in a stream or something.

Just saw it. I liked it! It's not near the level of MCU movies but it's not as bad as BvS. Not perfect, it has multiple scenes that don't work and some of the new characters (care to quess which ones...) are left sideline. But Apocalypse himself is uber cool and menacing and it has a fun 80's Claremont-vibe going on. I recommend!

Saw it last night.
The only thing that made me go "meh" was the wolverine stuff, which thankfully is a really insignificant part of the film. Its just the promises to come of more wolverine films that make me go...

Eh, that's just X-Verse keeping Jennifer Lawrence a heroine / anti-hero instead of villain. Which is a shame, because I think she'd ham up a villain better than blandly emote a poorly written anti-hero. Rebecca Romijn has never been considered a great actress, but her Mystique was a lot more fun than DoFP's and Apoc's take.

Yeah, I would place this above BvS and quite a bit below Civil War as well. I also enjoyed the movie but there were a lot of things that simply did not work.

It's just sad to see how the movie version of Mystique is the complete opposite of the comic and imo the better version. The comic version is a sociopathic, psychotic clown. Versus the movie version who has her faults but has more personality.
I would strongly recommend you check out the mystique series. It was amazing. Wife loved it.

I just finished watching it. I like the plot concept but didn't feel like it told the story very well. I would have kept the very basic plot of the villain and rewrote the rest of the movie. Very meh....reaction, my least favorite of the X-Men movie so far. The Wolverine addition was terrible, just an excuse for a cameo. I won't rent or buy it. For those that haven't seen it, its a rental at best.
I am a fan of Jennifer Lawrence however.

I am hopeful that the final scene leads to the female wolverine, so we can just make Hugh Jackman go away. I've liked him in the roll, but its time to let go.
Quicksilver was once again awesome, though the song playing during the scene was imo a poor choice.

Does Deadpool, Colossus, or Negasonic Teenage Warhead make an appearance. :-)
I'm guessing not, still never hurts to ask. :-)

Saw it. Liked it.
The plot is tissue-paper thin, many of the characters are little more than name-dropping background, and there are very, very few surprises for a savvy viewer (like...none) but it's a fun flick.
Fassbender-neto is always a joy, and they deal with some past events which is nice.
Might be my second-favorite X-Men movie, not including Deadpool (which is apples and oranges different in many ways). Not that the competition is all that stiff, but I didn't feel burned on my ticket purchase.

I saw it last night. I enjoyed it enough but there was definitely parts that felt slow and other parts that felt wholly unnecessary in what was already a very busy movie.

Thomas Seitz wrote:Did Apocalypse at least kill more than 20 people? That's kind of my gold standard for "bad ass villainy".I'd say yes.
I think he topped that in under a second in Poland...

Apocalypse basically destroyed an entire populated city in Egypt to create his pyramid. I'm pretty sure the death toll was WAY north of 20.
Although for me, in works of fiction, WHO is killed matters more to me more than sheer numbers in making someone a villain. One Gwen Stacy is worth 1000 nameless faceless Genosha mutants.

Really?! I think Magneto and some other mutants might disagree....
Glad to know he topped out well over a million then.

Just saw this. Did anyone else get a rather strange pre-movie announcement that basically had the actor who played Storm thanking you for watching the movie?
I did...wondered what that was all about. They just feel happy that I went to see the movie...that's a first...or at least actually putting a prefilm commercial/trailer to that effect, at least for me.

I think it was supposed to be their way of reminding the audience of all the people who made the film and how much effort they put into it. You know, as an attempt to guilt-trip all the movie pirates into not making bootleg copies of the film.
