Game needs more str / int races

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

There used to be three of them, but for some reason Scaleheart skinwalkers got their ability bonsues changed to the more 'traditional' monster race bonuses of +2 str +2 con. Not sure why, really. Str/Con is almost as overstocked as dex/cha and it ends up sort of conflicting with their fluff and preferred classes of alchemist and witch.

But that's besides the point.

With this change there are now only two options for str/int characters. Jiang-shi dhampir and male lashunta.

I think there should be more options available to players for this stat spread, especially given that both races are fairly niche and one of them is specific to one of the race's two sexes. Granted, werecrocodile-kin were also a pretty niche option, but it's still another option.

Still three options. Humans have an alternate racial trait for 2 +2 stat bonuses.

It's still better than Con/Int. The only support for that particular combo is the Munavri, and they're not something most GMs would allow.

Or you take the human with alternative racial trait...

That alternative racial trait is pretty trash overall, and still doesn't answer the problem of a lot of ability combinations just not existing without a lot of finagling.

Seriously, the amount of Dex/Cha races is disheartening unless I'm building a Cha caster, while as stated Str/Int is severely lacking. There's a lot of combinations that I'd like to see more of from races, like Con/Int, Str/Wis, Cha/Con, and others instead of the larger loop of Dex/Cha that we're getting.

I'd actually love to see a player companion of 'alternative racial adjustments' for the more common races, like a slight expansion on the ARG to give each race some more customization in stat placement.

I want more STR races overall. I think a lot of the "DEX-hype" (everything about the Dex-to-damage feats and what not) is because it's easier to maximize DEX than STR.

Yeah, some racial bonuses seem quite odd to me. Like Svirfneblin. They are a Dex/Wis race, but they seem more like Int or Cha casters than Wis-casters to me.

Though I guess their Wisdom bonus represents their dwarven-like perception skills and not that they have a ton of Clerics and Druids. Kind of like Kobold Sorcerers (and Changeling Witches) who, up until recently, were a weak choice for Sorcerers due to a lack of Charisma bonus but have a natural tendency to Sorc-based casting.

Sometimes the stats don't match ideal classes. More options to have race-class combos have the proper stat bonuses sounds like a good idea to me rather than trying to give those races overpowered FCBs or archetypes (cough Scarred Witch Doctor cough).
