Oblivion was amazing for its time, Morrowind too.
Neither has aged well. Especially Morrowind.
Bethesda learned from their mistakes and listened to complaints.
In TES 6, for example, I'm sure there won't be a cap on magic damage like skyrim (magic is still way too easy with the cap, thanks for the auto stagger from dual casting destruction. Alduin is a wimp when you stagger him for every hit as your minions beat him to death).
I also love playing conjured with double dead thralls, a dog, and a minion. It's like having a full D&D party!

Magic, archery, and sneaking all take heavy investment before they pull off, especially sneaking.
They also dominate late game, especially sneaking.
My main is currently a sneak archer with illusion at 100% because Muffle is so easy to spam and so useful. Currently working on upping his one handed, because dagger sneak attacks for 32x damage with the sneak perks and the dark brotherhood gloves are where it's at!

Perks in heavy armor make life happy. The first perk alone can up the armor ability by 80% if you take all five ranks.
The right side of the tree can give another 25% for wearing all heavy AND you a can get further 25% bonus for a matching set. I don't usually bother with the left side - the best bonus - the no weight for heavy armor one - can be replaced with the steed stone, AND it adds carrying capacity.
Seriously one of the best trees. Hardest part for me I getting hit enough to level it. I usually kill badguys before they hit me.
Glass canon is my style.

Finally finished Honest Hearts the other day (gotta agree with everyone else here, the White Legs had to go) and started on Old World Blues earlier. Maybe it's because I have an odd sense of humor but I'm really enjoying this one so far :D
Yeah, I really loved Old World Blues, next time I'll milk it more. :-)

Boone can be really hard to keep hold of if you're actively opposing the NCR- takes some finesse.
Cassidy, despite some jabber on the subject, is actually more karma-based than faction-based.
Arcade may or may not be cool with you.
Raul and Lily are about as hard to actually make mad as ED-E.

Cassidy who now?
Rose of Sharon Cassidy, Whiskey Rose, she of the Caravan Shotgun and the one hundred percent eyes.
I'm a bit of a fan, especially her incidental dialogue.
She's the one Companion who genuinely seems to be out of her depth when tossed into the Courier's earth-shattering company, and I like that about her.

My thing with Old World Blues, once again, is that it feels like a tonal mismatch with New Vegas.
Admittedly I've not gotten very far with OWB (mainly finished all the exposition/talking to the docs and now I'm outside stomping around) but I can see it. On the other hand, I felt that way about Mothership Zeta for FO3 even though I (mostly) enjoyed it. Not sure why, but even though the tonal mismatch between OWB and the rest of NV is probably larger than MZ and FO3 it doesn't really seem to bother me as much. Maybe because (in my opinion) the writing is better?
I never really settled on any companions, mainly rotating through them all to do their quests and get the achievement for recruiting them all. Most of them seem pretty cool though and if I had to pick, I guess I'd probably go with some combo of Rex and Cassidy/Veronica/Arcade/Lily.
As far as Skyrim goes...put a lot of hours into it (100+) but never finished it. The danger of open-world games is that I want to do all the side stuff before finishing the main quest, then I end up never finishing the game because there's so much to do. Did make two characters for it though, I think the first was some sort of Breton magic + light armor sneaky shenanigans and the second was a Kaijit sneaky + archery character. I lean heavily towards magic builds in games like that but man there's something so satisfying about oneshotting people with a bow from the shadows >:)

It's Complete! Veronica Lived!
Even better, she joined me for the assault on Hoover Dam, after i already had Raul with me, whom i got after i had assumed Veronica died. So it was like the epic super group, with ED-E along, truly an epic rampage, although i talked the legate into giving up, and the General of the NCR walked away like a b#*@*, still Mr. House got what he wanted and i evidently get to live the swank life by being Mr. House's Jiminy Cricket, not too bad for someone left in a grave to die.

If I would have to rate the Fallout games and Skyrim, this is how it would look...
Fallout - NV
Skyrim
Fallout 3
Fallout 4
For me it'd be
New Vegas
Fallout 4
Skyrim
Fallout 3
Companions are a huge part of gameplay for me, and 4's are SO much better than in any other Bethesda game I've played (though there's always a warm spot in my heart for the mechanical loyalty of Skyrim's Lydia). I also have to say, though 4 may have its flaws, I have easily put almost as many hours into it as Skyrim and New Vegas and I've owned the other two a lot longer.
If I'd expand to all the Fallout Franchise and Elder Scrolls Games I played, it'd be...
New Vegas
Fallout 4
Skyrim
Fallout 3/Fallout 2 (tie; very different gameplay enjoyed equally and very different frustrations non-enjoyed equally)
Oblivion (never finished, got it late and then Skyrim came out)
Fallout (never finished, though I hope to someday)
Morrowind (kept getting lost and gave up)
Note that I love all these games (I can see why people worship Morrowind so much, even, especially for its time, it just wasn't a game that worked well for me).

Hooray!!!!!!!
In my main game (the one where I tried to do ALL the stuff), I didn't talk the Legate down. I let Veronica punch him in the face. He went from full HP to about 4 hp in one blow. It almost felt like a cheat to finish him off with a little pistol bullet to the arm... but I did.
Fallout Rampage Cap'n Yesterday
Yeah, I actually sniped the Legate in the head with a highly explosive Annabelle, which put him at half life, then he ran down so we could talk it out, I was actually a little bummed I couldn't kill him after talking him down. :-(
I think next go I'll work with the NCR, seems like they maybe aren't so bad after all, or not, I hate having to do things for The Man, so many ways to go!

Xbox 360 games I've completed (in chronological order):
Halo 3
Lego Indiana Jones
Fallout 3
Fallout New Vegas.
Those are all, although I've gotten really far in Red Dead Redemption, got pretty far in Battlefield 2 before rage quitting, on account of it being a dirt eating impossibly cheating poopy face game, and I've spent countless hours examining the intricacies of driving, and crashing in GTA 4, tho I lose track of the missions the second every island is opened up, however, I can lose 4+ wanted stars, no prob. :-)

NCR is interesting to work with because a LOT of interesting quests you can do for them... A lot are side quests not crucial to the main quest per se, but it helps them be very fleshed out. Some are good heroic stuff, some gray, some with hard choices... And of course some that are FedEx quests. Regardless you see a lot of the game you wouldn't see if they are your enemies.

Oddly, you can help then with any ending, even Caesar, who respects them and was one before forming the legion. If you save Caesar in surgery and have neutral or better karma, he lets them live.
What's great, is that with everything you've said trying to get me to join Caesar, this is honestly the only time the idea has intrigued me.
Very well, i accept the challenge, well said!
Redbeard the Scruffy
The legion are especially useful for an Unarmed/Sneak ninja type character, so if you wanna save that for later....
They can teach one of the four unarmed unique attacks (the other three - the ranger who lives in Novac, the druggies in red rock, Veronica if you give her a dress), and they give you stuff like Stealth Boys, etc, in their base. They have a more spy-like vibe.
Redbeard the Scruffy
You have to tell him to GO HOME and then meet him, when he's NOT a follower in his shack.
He repairs to 100% but still charges you. He's almost impossible to pickpocket the cash back from, too. His perks are sweet, though, to prevent degradation.
He also makes a great gunslinger if you get him his vaquero perk, which is basically the cowboy perk.

Look for the Legendary Edition of Skyrim. It has Skyrim and the three DLCs.
How is the legendary edition? Are the DLCs worth it, I'm not worried about sunk cost with my non legendary edition, it cost me hardly anything, just wondering if it adds to the game.
I'll still probably look for it either way. :-)

I don't really have a lot of interest building in video games, with it being my job and all, also hobby. But the other ones sound fun, I was disappointed the Werewolf thing wasn't more effective for me (don't get me wrong, I like mauling and eating people as much as the next guy, but not being able to use potions and shit is kind of hard when getting swarmed by Black robe wearing poseur a**!#&@s.

Warning - Arcade, Cassidy, and Boone will hate you. Boone may attack you on sight.
Best use of an NCR uniform during the Legion run-through?
Wearing it so you can recruit Boone.
Then changing to something else and killing him.
Laughing evilly and twirling your mustache is encouraged.
Also: Wearing it to recruit Arcade, and then stringing him along long enough to trigger "For Auld Lang Syne."
Then sic the Enclave on the NCR. BATHE IN HIS TEARS.
