I've tried searching it in the rules, I'll tried searching the forums.
But a quick question: the ruling is now that an Aasimar with an arcane spell-like ability doesn't not count as having an arcane caster level equal to character level for feat pre-reqs, correct?
I have an aasimar divine caster with a familiar (eldritch heritage: arcane), and am trying to get improved familiar, somehow.

You are treated as if having sorcerer levels, but you aren't a sorcerer. That first level power doesn't grant a spell (not a spell-like ability but an actual spell), nor does it grant spell slots to cast an Arcane spell. Even with Eldritch Heritage, you are not an Arcane spellcaster. Every ability granted by a Sorcerer Bloodline first level ability is a supernatural ability, SLA, or other small bonuses like a familiar, but never does one grant spells or the slots to use them, nor do you gain such by taking Eldritch Heritage. Unless there's a FAQ that I've missed somewhere.

Yeah, it seems like it could be house-ruled that I could get Improved Familiar through Eldritch Heritage, but I don't believe that would be RAW at all.
I was just making sure the ruling was currently that a Racial arcane SLA doesn't give you an Arcane caster level anymore.
The build actually contains one level of sorcerer anyway, but would need CL 7 for the familiar I want.
Sheepish Eidolon, I think that's just for using the power, and using that for a feat pre-req isn't actually using the power.
Oh well.

I don't think anyone is arguing that it gives you spells or spell slots.
The question is, if you are a ninth level character with a familiar gained through the eldritch heritage feat (which gives you a familiar as though you were a 7th level sorcerer) can you take the improved familiar feat and get a faerie dragon (or other creature that requires 7th level arcane casting).
Basically it is does your 'treated as sorcerer level' apply for Improved Familiar's Arcane Casting Requirement.
Strictly speaking, it probably doesn't anymore than it applies as an arcane caster level for arcane strike. Reasonably though, the 'arcane caster level' requirement in Improved Familiar should probably be the same (i.e. they are the same thing) as the 'Master Class Level' in the basic familiar table, in which case the virtual sorcerer level would apply.

This.

Familiars and the Improved Familiar feat were designed before non-arcane types could acquire them. It would be REALLY nice to have this one FAQed, as that pesky "Arcane Spellcaster Level" technicality puts quite the damper on many builds.
Further, it's not even that well defined. i.e., if I can cast spells at a 7th effective level (due to a certain trait, or whatever), does this count? Everyone has an opinion, but in the end, it is ambiguous.
Finally, individual familiars usually have the requirements for acquiring them listed in their monster entry which may either add to or replace what's listed on the table, depending on your opinion. For example, the Cat Sith entry states: "A 7th-level spellcaster with the Improved Familiar feat can gain a cat sith as a familiar." No mention of being arcane is mentioned.

Oh wow, Byakko, you're right. The wiki page says Arcane, and the feat chart says "Arcane Spellcaster Level" for those listed, but feat itself doesn't state Arcane. The entry for the Arbiter Inevitable just says spellcaster level. I'm gonna say that's RAW enough for me, as I'd have divine caster levels (though an actual FAQ would be nice for any other builds that don't have divine spellcaster levels, and get it through Eldritch Heritage or other means).
