Pathfinder "Hunger Games"

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I am trying to organize an epic battle in my group. We just finished a pretty big adventure so I wanted to end on a really fun note. So I decided to try an ultimate battle royale, hunger games style. There will be a stadium 40 miles in diameter and each of my friends will control 4 level 20 characters. They are released in random locations and fight to the death. I am have trouble figuring out how to run a game this style though. Does anyone know a way I can run a session without giving away the PC's locations, and other surprise elements, away?

Separate rooms, then bring them into the same room if they meet each other? It's a bit clunky.

Alternatively, you could rely on your players to not exploit info about each other, or have them declare their actions simultaneously via notes to GM or something.

Make it hex based, then have the players move to whatever hex. If they get close draw out the map for battling.

Thanks guys, I'm leaning towards using notes... not really sure though, I still have lots more planning to do!

Find a game with double-blind movement rules. The system doesn't matter, only the process. BattleTech has double blind movement rules, and they're available in several products, including the Tactical Handbook, a staple of Half-Price Books' gaming sections. In that case, CWheezy's suggestion of a hex map works perfectly, since that actually matches up with the maps for BattleTech.
