The Unchained rogue's finesse training should've been one of two "training options"

Who isn't more powerful than the core rogue? The problem is that the uRogue already outperforms the dex slayer. If the uRogue gained a strength option, the Slayer would need something or it will just become the class no one takes.

Every class doesn't need to be as good as every other class at every single build.

Also keep in mind that (unlike the slayer) the rogue has a 3/4 BAB and is shoehorned into being a melee fighter. To claim that there's absolutely no reason to play the slayer is absolutely ridiculous.

The point is that there is a reason to play a Slayer now for the reasons you said. We are talking about a future where the rogue can go strength option. In that case, the strength option will either be considered subpar,so why bother; or it will eclipse the Slayer, which just makes the Slayer the new core rogue.

...Yeah, sure.

That Strength based option is totally going to eclipse full BaB, +1-5 to-hit and damage on top of that, and Combat Style Feats.

I'm just going to mention that if you want a dex based slayer... you can just dip 4 levels of Urogue. It delays your class abilities a bit, but you come out about the same thanks to the improvements/riders Urougue has on his SA, and you only lose like, 1 BAB.

So the "Dex slayer" option is kinda superflous.

So when people are talking about a strength option what is it exactly you want?

Add strength to damage just like Dex? Because I have good news!

I don't get what people would like to add something when the option is the same. Str or Dex either or.

DEX focus for URogue brings URogue to a "competent" level for DEX-based builds. In effect, it patches up some of the difference between STR-based and DEX-based rogues. It doesn't make DEX-based rogues flat-out better than STR-based rogues, and you can still build a better STR-based URogue than a STR-based Rogue.

Look at it this way: It fixes a difference that shouldn't have existed in the first place, it doesn't make dexterity flat-out better.

It doesn't have to be anything spectacular. Just replace Finesse Training with a Bonus Feat that isn't Weapon Finesse, and some other minor abiity instead of Dex to Damage.

I'd probably make it a slightly more combat oriented archetype in general. Maybe Weapon Focus at 1st and qualifying for Fighter only Feats at 3rd, or treating your class level as BaB for prerequisites.
