They are not counting on me being up late! :)
I just got rid of two spammer accounts. Am off to hunt for more!

Almost forgot!
Thank you for your efforts at combating the spam threads. ^_^
Seems they found a new weak spot in defenses...

...and on it goes. Yet we all remain vigilant and will not yield!
EDIT: I take it "sql to derive data for dataset" is some sort of passcode to get them past the death lasers?
I wish Paizo's vorpal sword would go snicker snack on these sons of b!@#$&*.
Go snicker snack vorpal sword! Go snicker snack. Also, I hope there's a special spot reserved in hell for spammers, where they are forced to read the same nonsense they've posted for all eternity, and where there are no snacks.

From the earlier post I understood that it was working like that: enter harmlessly looking text that does not trigger defense systems, post, edit the post with the actual spam hoping that the defense system only checks the post on posting and not on edit, repeat. The exact content was probably copy-pasted to avoid hurdle of typing it manually each time.
Flagged well over 100 (probably closer to 200), but they keep coming and now I have to work. Carry on, all ye brave soldiers! We will not fall!
P.S. There's one hanging around in RPG General Discussion.

Ugh. New Spam Laser needed tuning. I have tuned the thing. Should keep them at bay more efficiently tonight.

Correction:
It's all better. It won't ever be all good.
I think they developed another adaptation to penetrate defenses...
I've spotted a few spammers, but the advertised stuff was vastly different from former casinos. Perhaps these are just different people... or probes.

Aberzombie, mind if I ask what criteria you're using to determine if a thread like that is spam?

Pretty sure that political threads are not, in and of themselves, inappropriate in OTD, as long as they remain civil.

I personally think that kind of crap has no place at all on these boards. There's more than enough about geek/nerd/gaming culture itself to argue about, without a bunch of asswipes bringing politics into everything.

You'll note that I haven't expressed an opinion on whether they are appropriate (in point of fact, I think that politics and religion should be banned topics), but until or unless Auntie Lisa changes her mind, they're allowed. Calling them out as spam in this thread doesn't feel appropriate to me.
Now, a frank, honest discussion about the suitability of political and religious threads for this site wouldn't be unwelcome to me, just not in this thread.

Chemlak wrote: Calling them out as spam in this thread doesn't feel appropriate to me. You're probably correct. For me, however, it's very cathartic. Plus, spam seems to get all the attention.

I believe that's been done before, with...no results whatsoever. I have my own beliefs about why "no results", but I shall keep out of posts here, for politeness sake.
Folks, please take the discussion about political threads to a different one. We actually are mulling over this decision currently, so if you have feedback, another thread or an email at community@paizo.com would be appreciated.
As far as the regular onslaught of spammers goes, it's been nice to wake up to clear boards these last couple of days. I'd say the new laser tuning is a success! (Of course, I probably just jinxed us, sorry!)
There was a small problem but they didn't affect the lasing properties. ^_^ and gave me a good idea for tuning so all in all, much better.

I nailed one spammer 30 seconds after he/she created the account. Now that is action! :)

I just made a personal best. 9 seconds after they posted I had them deleted and banned. Can it really be worth it for them to post for 9 seconds? :)

That happened so fast I feel like it must have been an AoO for them moving out of your threatened square.

I just sat there for 30 minutes refreshing the screen every 30 seconds or so and when I saw them, I banned them. They must have figured that we had some awesome program doing it because it was so efficient!

Must be doing something right -- at least their numbers are down.
Wow. Just wow. And I'm glad to see their numbers down.
Get 'em Lisa, drive them back into the sea!
Just noticed teo new bastards. Are they going at it again?
I am just posting to say that I am disappointed that the title of the thread was not "Spam Wars: the Spam Awakens".
Maybe if the korean casinos return a few more times.

Well, we've obviously gotten through 'Spam Wars: Return of the Filter' now.
Oh those silly spammers, they better not be back again, cause ol' Bessy the +5 barrett 50. cal of spammer bane is in the shop, but I have this brand new shiny spam post slicing lightsabre!
Happy New Year from a spammer in off topic!
