It seems the spammers are back with a strong presence the Pazio General Discussion.

G@+@#!n spamming a%#&*@$s!!

I'm never going to another Korean casino again... after tomorrow.. next week..

Great! Now Aberzombie is encouraging them:-(

Maybe they are Zombie Spammers?

Liberty's Edge

Wasn't there ... 'something' .... done recently to stop these jagoffs? Apparently they found a workaround?

Scarab Sages

I'm honestly surprised that it took them this long to bypass the last fix. As always, flag and move on, and lets hope the next block works as well as the last one.

Looks like the mods got in--the recent posts list in General Discussion is looking rather empty at the moment.

Scarab Sages

Thank the gods. I was running out of amusing responses.

Yeah, about that, Aberzombie. =) It would be really nice when you see those things that you NOT reply to them. It makes our job quite a bit harder. I know it's hard not to respond some times, but please flag it and move on. =) Feel free to quip all you like in this thread or one like it though!

Echoing this. Our policy is to remove responses to spam threads and spam posts, and since that's gotta be done by human hands, it takes our time away from bigger issues or cool projects we need to work on.

I've also done some tinkering to laser these guys out of our system.

And don't quote from the spam posts, even in translation. Their goal is to run up the number of search engine hits for their businesses, so any repeats of their stuff serves the same purpose as the original post(s).

Except for the fact that Paizo.com doesn't get caught by the spiders they're hoping to count hits by, so all they're doing is wasting their own time and money (well, and Paizo's time and money). Replying to or quoting their posts has exactly zero impact on their goal: all it does is make Paizo work harder to scrub the offending posts from the site.

Flag And Move On (FAMO): keep Paizo's staff working for us rather than against webscum.

Since y'all asked so nicely.....

It's good to know at least one instance where flagging works.

G~*+##n it!

How can I have the most aliases if the spammers keep using all the good ones!

F%*+ing heartless savages!!

Liberty's Edge

Guys, General Discussion is being hit hard by spam. I got several threads but the first page is dominated by spam.

I've been flagging them as fast I can for the last hour, but I'm going to sign off soon.

Liberty's Edge

I have flagged several earlier. I think that we need to encourage people to keep flagging and I am sure things will be better by morning.

It's like a swarm. I need a spam bane clasp.

And again and again and again...

I don't know what was done to stop the last spam attack, but obviously they have gotten through again. Time to consider again the concept of requiring new users first handful of posts to pass moderation.

Well I have so far flagged all the spam...but I am wondering about something. Could Pazio disable the copy/paste use in their text window...because I doubt they are typing it out every time...

That would be a horrible idea. I copy and paste in almost every long post I make.

Yes. That'd only make their messages shorter, and hinder a lot of normal posters.

I carpet flagged all spam, so let's hope everything gets solved soon.

and you can easily make a macro that emulates the typing and not a copy/paste. so I also think removing Copy/Paste would hinder the standard customer more.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends! Once more, and close the wall up with Korean spam!

I agree that something like this is becoming imparative!

It's the Runelord of Gluttony to blame, I'm sure, heh...

*keeps flagging*

Spotted and flagged one in Pathfinder RPG General Discussion, as well.

*straggles into thread, covered in Korean characters, spam cannons smoking*

They're... they're everywhere...

*collapses*

I sincerely hope you're using something like Snaplinks for FF, which allows opening all links in a block. Seriously it speeds things up with these mass banzai attacks.

Liberty's Edge

sooo much spam. I think I wore out my clicker flagging them.

Scarab Sages

Huh.....that's a lot of spam.

Status Update: Eating breakfast, banning spammers, as ya do.

Just don't mix them up.

You wouldn't want to ban breakfast, after all.

Although eating spammers might be tasty depending on how you cook 'em...

I'd skip that meal - they're unfit for human consumption, and have too great a chance of causing food poisoning.

Yeah, that's probably a better idea.

Have we seriously degenerated into debating the merits of Spam for breakfast?

Clearly, you've never had a well-prepared spam-bacon-onion omelet.

You know, in Hawaii, Spam is totally legit, perhaps even a delicacy. It's used even in kinda fancy dishes.

De gustibus non disputandum est. (OTOH, I'm on a reduced-sodium diet, and spam in more than gram quantities is a Bad Thing for me. Sadly, so is bacon.)

I was delighted when my neighbor (recently "emigrated" from Hawaii) was at the corner store, buying Spam, seaweed, rice, and soy sauce.
"Spam sushi?"
"Yes. My son LOVES it. He makes it for himself almost every day."
"Awesome."

Time to reload my +5 Barrett 50 cal. of spammer bane. It has been said before, but indeed, such is the price of spammer freedom. Now lets go out and touch some spammer posts from near a mile!

(worth noting, Hawaiian food is delicious)

Spam musubi is delightful, and I will have Stern Words with those who say otherwise.

Unfortunately, my schedule has tightened since the last spam sortie - I won't have as much time to flag-and-frag fools.

Hopefully you all are fighting the good fight. ^_^

True facts.

McDonalds even has a SPAM breakfast plate (I would go with the Portuguese Sausage and Rice plate myself, but to each their own).

Especially with just a little sriracha... Om nom nom. Making me hungry. Also, hopefully this rearming of the spam artifacts will work correctly this evenening. =)
