I vastly prefer legible dice over stylized dice. I find the default PACG dice quite pleasing, personally. I tend to travel with 2 sets for my personal use, though they inevitably travel around the table :)
When I'm RPGing, I tend to add a couple more sets to the mix. I'm most partial to dark colors (blue, black, and green), like Chessex Stealth, Ninja, or Recon. I wish percentile dice didn't come in the set and I like PACG's "10" over "0"; I'd rather use a slightly different d10 in the very rare instance I need a d100. I also really like 12-sided or 8-sided replacements for d4s, cause I don't like rolling caltrops.
My wife, Beka has richer tastes than me, and tends to use metal dice. She's currently pondering getting some gemstone dice. She agrees with me on legible over specialty/stylized dice though.

Not a bad idea on the surface, but I think there will be product differentiation/confusion issues. If I get a set of "pathfinder dice", which ones will I get? If I'm an RPG player and accidentally get the PACG ones, I’d be pretty upset.

Keith, it's funny but I find that my dice tastes for PACG are definitely much simpler and not as personal as my tastes for RPG dice. I have many, many, many different sets from Chessex and CC and Q-Workshop. (I have stayed away from metal dice as over the years they tend to wear out the plastic ones stored with them. Same reason I stay away from chainmail dice bags.) In fact, I use different sets with different characters. And I have a set amount of each die that I get extras for.
But for PACG, I want very legible dice. That's why I like Chessex Solids. And that's why I stick with one color for each die type. Easy to grab and easy to teach.

I'm also in the legibility camp, if I can't read a die easily then I try to not use it. For this reason I've also shied away from translucent dice as once the numbers start wearing off a bit they're nearly impossible to read. I recently backed a kickstarter for solid two-tone dice (where 1/2 of the die is one color and 1/2 is another) that look pretty sweet, looking forward to getting those in to supplement my collection. Otherwise right now the majority of my dice are Chessex and Crystal Caste.
So, my Fiancee got me the S&S dice set when we started playing S&S. It is a 7 die set (d4, d6, d8, 2x d10 [percentile], d12, d20). The dice are kinda neat, with the skull replacing the high number, but they are hard to read. Also, S&S doesn't require the d20.
I think your average player would rather have boring but easy to read dice; if you want special dice, buy the accessory. They are also made by Q Workshop and licensed by Paizo, so I expect including them in Base Sets would raise the price of the set; I just don't have a feel for how much.
I remember seeing your copy at PaizoCon; they did look nice, but I found them hard to read. I shy away from some of the metal dice sets for a similar reason.

Back when I played Hackmaster I had an official set of gemstone Honor Dice. That set was tiny, but they always rolled well for me!
I have some Q-Workshop Elven d4s I use for Magic Missiles, but I wouldn't buy any of their other dice. Pretty, but expensive and too hard to read. Lately I've been filtering out some of my favorite dice that are hard to read in the varying light conditions at game stores and conventions. (They work fine in the brighter light at home, though.)
Be careful with those. I had to ban metal and oversized dice at my place because they damaged the table. :(
Yeah, she and a friend destroyed one of my flip-mats before I realized. The big metal d20 is not friendly to surfaces.
The gemstone/wood dice I checked out at Gen Con seem like they'd be far kinder to a table, but I'm not sure they'll have the right heft/feel if she enjoys the metal dice.

I also agree with not liking metal dice due to damaging finishes and coverings. I have an old iPad 2 box that I bring out for containing rolls to avoid our table from taking constant abuse. Its got a slight padding in it and works well enough. Helps with the dice not flying off onto the floor as well. Haven't tried a dice tower yet.
If you're talking dice towers and dice trays then you gotta look at Wyrmwood's stuff. One of the guys in my groups uses one and I saw them at GenCon. Beautiful!

Maybe he means Dwarven dice that don't require a DC 20 Linguistics check to read, something the Q-Workshop dice have yet to deliver on ;)

Those Dwarven Rune dice are my most prized dice set, except I have the metal version. Same design and everything, just metal instead.

Yeah, I saw their booth as well. I couldn't get the wife to begin to warrant the expenditure (we're spending too much on the actual games already). We both agreed the stuff was stunning, though.

Someone mentioned a dice tower, and I don't think I'm RPG enough to know eactly what that is. But the first thing that came to mind was the literal tower of dice that people build when it's not their turn and they're slightly bored because someone else it taking a long time with their turn. At least one person in every single one of my groups does it. It's usually something like:
d4 (top)
d8
d10
d12
d6 (bottom)

These are the ones we're talking about. They're made of high quality woods. Natural. (The colors are from the wood used.) They sell the towers and the dice trays separate but it's all modular. The wall and pieces all have small magnets that hold the shape then allow you to collapse the tower and fit it into the dice tray. There's also something they call a dice vault they sell that fits into the set which holds a set of dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d10s, d12 and d20).
Our DMs use dice towers and one of the guys I play PACG uses one of the Wyrmwood ones when it plays.
Thanks for the link. They look really cool, and the wood looks really nice. I'm such a noob; I had never heard of them! I should probably consider getting one, seeing as I tend to roll the dice off the table at least once per scenario. (Just looked at the prices ... maybe I'll put it on my wish list...)

There are cheaper ones. The Wyrmwood ones are high quality/luxury examples, made from more expensive woods. But cheaper ones exist too. The Value Edition of this one is less than $10. Of course, it doesn't look nearly as nice as the Wyrmwood ones.

I actually don't use dice towers for my rolls. But when I saw the purple wood, it got onto my wish list. There are plenty of dice towers including ones that can be made out of card stock and the instructions can be found on DriveThruRPG (Fat Dragon Games!). There are meeple shaped ones. All sorts of dice towers. And dice trays for those that just want a place to catch the dice as you roll. (The octagonal stand alone trays are nice with flocking. A good option for those thinking of the new Pathfinder metal dice.)
But Wyrmwood ones are pretty!

Wyrmwood offers a magnetic dice tower... There in the FAQ this question was asked:
Why magnets? Will they affect my metal dice?
The magnets in the Dice Tower are very small, very powerful rare earth magnets. While they grip firmly and strongly, their pull is limited to a small area, and will not affect dice rolling through the tower. In fact, many metal dice are made from non-ferrous materials, and would not be affected by magnets at all.
The magnets are our solution to a common problem with dice towers; the choice of portability vs rolling capacity. In full-size towers, you have the option of rolling many dice, and larger dice, without the tower jamming. However, their size makes taking them with you on the go difficult. I have both a dice tower and a dice tray; the tower was a gift and the tray was custom-made by a person who doesn't make them anymore. Neither are collapsible.
The tray gets some use when playing games here, but I don't bring it anywhere as it's too big. The walls are the height of a couple of Pathfinder RPG Hardcovers or about 3/4s the height of a PACG box, so it takes up a lot of space in a backpack and on the table.
The dice tower is too big for anything but the largest tables. Also, dropping dice into a tower isn't the same as rolling them out of my hands (or, in rare occasions, from a cup). The Wyrmwood ones are more portable, but they don't change the table space or feel issues.
