Can you take two or just one

The beginners guide says two the core says one.

Silver Crusade

You get one that you are specialized in, and two that are prohibited, but really just take a bit of extra effort to use.

Thanks

I am really confused why the beginners guide says you get two to specialize in

Silver Crusade

No idea, I've never actually played the Beginner's Box

Grand Lodge

Yoshu - are you referring to the on line guide by - Nephril's guide. The wording in the guide is odd and should be to select your school of specialization/focus and choose two schools that are your opposition schools. Nephril guide makes it sound like you need to select the 'restricted' schools as your school of focus.

You select one as your school to specialize in, and two that are your opposition schools and spells from those opposition schools you cannot normally select spells from. ( Valbren - I checked the Begiinners Box and they only refer to Restricted spells and certain spells an Evoker or Illusionist cannot cast and not schools of magic.)

I am not referring to the online guide.

Could you point out the page/paragraph where you read the hero's handbook says you get 2? Also, this is probably more of a beginner Box question and should probably be in that subsection.

As I read it you get to select a (singular) type of magic from the following: Universalist, Evocation, or Illusion.

As so far as I can tell in both both core and the begginer's box you get one school. Though there are more than 3 options for the core wizard.
