im planning on making a druid that makes use of its animal companion in combat. im going to use my druid as a dd and with spells ill have healing spells ready. and mostlikely wands of cure whatever.
i want to end up using awaken on a companion and use leadership to still keep it as i wont want to use animal companion and leadership. what i want to know is what animal companions will be able to get awakened and get class levels as soon as they awaken and i can still get them to stay and how many class lvls would they get.
Awaken creatures fall very deeply into GM control.
Additionally, I am not sure awakened animals can become cohorts either.
Honestly, if your GM allows an awakened animal to be a cohort, I would get a regular animal. This would allow it to have more class levels. Make sure it is one you have trained and treated well, or awakening could get you a new foe.
