(Dreamscarred Press) Aegis>Ranged Attack Customization

Advice and Rules Questions

So I plan on trying out the Aegis class in an upcoming campaign and wanted some clarification on the Ranged Attack customization. The ability states that the attack does 1d8 piercing damage. Does size not affect this damage? Most such entries indicate if it does, so I'm assuming size doesn't affect this one.

Follow-up would be, if size does affect it, is there a progression I could follow?

Pretty sure you are right: It's likely unaffected by size increases. If you think about it, the fluff is that it forms a crystal from the suit and shoots it at an enemy. It's likely intentional that that crystal is the same size, regardless of how BIG AND HUGE the Aegis gets.

Assuming it WAS affected by size increases, though, it probably follows the same progression as a Longsword (1d8 medium -> 2d6 large -> 3d6 huge).

Also, as an aside, the Ranged Attack customization is kind of garbage. You don't get iteratives, it doesn't get bonus damage from stats, and it takes a standard action to shoot a single crystal at stuff. There are better things to spend that customization point on.

Pretty sure I'm right, now. I just came across the Improved Ranged Attack customization, which basically causes the damage to scale with your level. It would get OP pretty quickly if it scaled with size, too.

Nope, size does not affect it.

Is that true?

Because as written I has assumed that you would get iteratives.

They aren't on the d20pfsrd, but there are further customizations and I don't believe they work like that. At work and not able to look at my UltPsi to double check unfortunately.

The Ranged Attach customization allows for iteratives attacks, it states "This attack can be used as part of a full attack, including using this attack for each attack in the full attack".

Thanks

Huh. You're right. It does say that in my copy of Ultimate Psionics, but not on the PFSRD. Strange.

As far as I know, PFSRD has the content from Psionics Unleashed and Psionics Expanded. For Ultimate Psionics, there was some new content created in addition to compiling the two books. I don't believe anyone has undertaken the task of changing this. While I've thought about it once or twice, I've been daunted by the idea that most of the content already exists; how the heck do the logistics work when you're re-doing classes and power lists etc that are already present. Editing the existing pages is one option, but until you've got everything else they link to ready...

It just sounds like a mess to me, honestly.
