Im gming #4-9 The Blakros Matrimony next weekend at con and i would like some additional background fluff on the weddings guests the players will be influencing. I would like elements from other scenarios or other aspects of backstory that I can incorporate into my RP.

The guest are: (1) Nigel Aldain, (2) Alexander Bedard, (3) Hamaria Blakros, (4) Tancred Desimire, (5) Jeon Raeng-Woo; and (6) Rubaani Shafar.

Thanks for help

Bump. Anyone?

Silver Crusade 3/5

Quite many of them haven't actually appeared elsewhere. For Nigel, I'd suggest any of the Blackros Museum scenarios, he does have a role (usually just a small one, though) in most of those. The relevant scenarios are Mists of Mwangi, Echoes of the Overwatched, Voice in the Void. Penumbral Accords has some Blakcros, but I cannot remember which one.

I made pictures for each of them and had a flipboard so that it was:
picture --> /\ <-- information/dcs/background
It made knowing who the PCs were talking to and gave them hints how to approach them. I wish I could have shared it, but some of the art wasn't under CUP.

As Leathert said Nigel is the only one that had been in a scenario prior to the wedding.

Tancred has been mentioned in several since, but not before and I think the only one he's actually shown up in is Vengeance at Sundered Crag.

Hamaria has been in a couple, namely Penumbral Accords and the Grand Convocation prior to the wedding, and Day of the Demon after it.

For Woo, I played him as they talked to him he kept drinking (it helped that they kept plying him with drinks) and he slowly got more and more intoxicated as the conversation went on.

Thanks for info. I'm going to us face gards and have index cards with my notes on them of each.

For this scenario I recommend giving the players the faction missions, as many of them give the players an idea where to start talking (gives them a motive that helps them get into character).

For example the Grand Lodge mission is to talk to Nigal, and if I recall it says Nigal tries to avoid pathfinders, so I had him back away when he realizes pathfinders were coming to talk to him. It got the two players more involved as they worked together to corner Nigal on the ship to have a 'friendly' conversation...

Andoran, Grand Lodge, Taldor, and Silver Crusade all had missions for talking with the guest. A few others may have too but I remember those 4 did.

EDIT: Actually now that I think about it I remember Cheliax had a guest talking mission too, but it was a bit different then normal.

Definitely use face cards for the NPCs. i also play up the Hellknights, which gives martial characters someone to hang out with even though it isn't worth "points". One of our PCs was a dervish dancer, and so the Qadiran delegates challnged him to a dance competition. Find something about your PCs that fits with one of the NPCs and find a way to use it. Makes the game much more personal than just, "Who do I *need* to talk to to get XP".

Agreed. When I ran it, I put face cards down on the table, and had the players put their minis on the one they were talking to. When I ran it, i used the given background, and "voices" came pretty naturally. I did have a fun group of role players when I ran.

Having a good idea of they are would be good, but I think the scenario gives you plenty to work with!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I had the pleasure of playing at Silbeg's table for this one and the cards where quite helpful for the party to visualize who we could interact with and what the rest of the characters were up to. I spent very chance I could hitting on Hamaria Blakros, as her voice was hauntingly erotic. The fighter wanted to beat up Nigel for being such a jerk after just saving him in the museum one scenario prior. We really had a lot of fun.

John and Mark need to let me (or other authors) use the term 'haunting erotic' when describing Hamaria's voice in the future.

THIS NEEDS TO BE A THING!
