Man, this map took me back to the glory days of gaming. So many great memories of blue-lined graph paper just waiting to be transformed into some creepy cavern stalked with beasts and treasure.
Thanks for this walk down Amnesia Lane.
My favorite map, by far!
Thank you! I'm glad you got that old school vibe. During preparation, I studied the early 1st edition underdark modules (D1 Descent into the Depths of the Earth, D2 Shrine of the Kuo-Toa, D3 Vault of the Drow), though these were long before my time.

That trilogy is close to my heart! My most vivid gaming memories come from our group's epic trek through the G-series Against the Giants, deep underground through the D-series (honestly, the drow scared the hell out of us with their spells and freaky magic items), and then culminating in a showdown with Lloth herself in Q1. Took my cleric from 7th all the way to 15th level during the course of that series. Those adventures solidified my love for the game, and I can definitely see their influence in your map.
Once again, bravo! Good luck in the rest of the competition. Can't wait to see your beastie! Create-a-monster round is my favourite round of this competition, hands down!

I am exceedingly happy to see this map in the top 16 and I was happy to vote for it to get there.
I do agree with the ever so many mentions of three dimensionality being a lack, probably to me the singularly greatest lack, as I can scarcely imagine even one group of players I know, that would not someone make that information relevant - regardless of how you give that information, it is necessary for the map.
Artistically (much as we should judge based on that) this is beautiful work.
Conceptually most of the choices feel good, even if your story idea for the map is more complex than what I would have deduced from the map alone, but that is to be expected.
So far a really strong set of entries.
