Probably helps that the whole 'demon-worshipping' nonsense never made it down here to Aus so it never had that stigma - sure; still got the 'nerdy' side of it, but no worse than video games ever got. RPGs just had to put up with it for a bit longer.

Same thing here in Canada. Oh, we got a bit of back-wash from the U.S. but it never really hit the level of the "Satanic Panic" like it did down south. The "it's a nerd thing" label though: that part I think everyone got hit with.

Nerd thing yes, but talk of Satanism in Australia would just get someone giggled at.

So yes, bodes well. Geek culture is really growing here.

Yeah, yeah. We all know what really happened. The satanic panic of the 80s did manage to stop the spread of Satanism in the gamer scene - but the movement wasn't enough to cover the whole world. So, Australian gamers are all casting mind bondage on their fathers for more RPG books now.
