Few Spell Questions

Advice

I am considering a primarily buff caster.
I especially like the ‘communal’ buff spells. Things like haste, prayer, communal protection from energy, and communal bears endurance are very appreciated and really greatly increase the combat capability and survivability of the group.

Especially since the rest of the group will be a martial or at least hybrid build that will already be doing damage to the bad guys. So I have a couple of questions about how to do this even better.

I do not have a build yet. I need a little more information before I decide on a class/build.

1) Is there a way to get ‘personal’ spells on other PC’s? For example: I really love Mirror Image and would love to be able to cast it on the cavalier.

2) Is there a way to make a single target spell into a multi-target spell. For example: It would be great if I could cast displacement on the whole party at once, rather than 5 rounds to get it on everyone.

3) If I've cast a buff spell on someone then I get knocked unconscious or killed, do the buffs go away? I didn't think so, but someone said that it worked that way.

4) Can I cast Magic Vestment (assume level 8 for a +2) on both my shield and on my armor to get a +4 to my armor class?

1/ Through scrolls or wands, used by the cavalier, it would be possible.

2/ Not sure if there's a metamagic to do it, but basically, spells that don't get multi-target usually don't get it for good reasons.

3/ Usually not. Except obviously concentration spells, the other last until their duration is expired.

4/Yes. Magic Vestment gives a +2 enhancement bonus to armor or shield. So it effectively increases the armor bonus to AC for an armor, and the shield bonus to AC for a shield. These bonuses still don't stack with other enhancement bonuses to armor or shield already given.
In your case, if you have a +1 light shield, throughout the duration of the spell, the shield would be equivalent to a +2 shield, not +3.

5) For a scroll of Raise Dead. Is the 5k diamond needed when casting off of the scroll or when writing the scroll.

6) Approx how much should an NPC caster charge to use a scroll for the PC's. Say I want to have a Remove Curse cast and have the scroll but no one in the party that can use it.

5. When writing it.

6. I don't think there's a set rate for this. Honestly in my games if a PC went to a temple of their own faith I'd have them provide this service for free. If they need to hire someone I'd probably say a nominal fee of 5 gp per caster level would be appropriate.

Whoops! I charged them a lot more than that.

How much might be charged if it was not of their own faith?

Anyone have other ideas on 1) or 2) above?

1) YES! once they have animal soul you make them your animal companion and that lets you cast all sorts of stuff on them.

2)No, that's why there are communal versions of some spells. The others they want you to have to use 5 spells for it. Legions blessing on crusader cleric is the only other way that it kinda can be done.

6)Ryric said 5gp per caster level of the NPC
whatever it is it wouldn't be a ton. There's no danger, there's no loss of resources for the hired person.

And I'm surprised that no one in the party could even try to use the scroll.

1) The alchemist can currently use the infusion discovery to allow team members to drink his extracts, including those with the range of personal. I don't think that mirror image is on the alchemist's list, though. Here's a pretty full list, though. It's possible that this isn't RAI.

I *think* that the cleric spell Imbue with Spell Ability will allow you to give party members the ability to cast certain personal spells on themselves, but there are pretty strict limitations and you still won't be able to get Mirror Image without shenanigans.

2) The Echoing Spell metamagic feat won't let you increase the number of targets in a single casting, but it will allow you to cast a spell twice using the same slot.

I don't know of ways to make single target spells truly multi-target.

The player/PC that had a decent UMD dropped out of the group a few weeks ago.
