I´m a big fan of enchantment spells and it always saddened me that some of the most funny and thematic spells just loose their viability after some levels due to the HD limit they can affect.
Lately i had the very interesting idea to apply some metamagic to some of those spells. Reason for that was the sacred geometry feat that makes it actually possible, or easier than before.
An example would be hypotism, what has a hd limit of 2d4.
You can now apply maximised making it 8 and then ad another +4 by empowering spell, makes for 12 hd.
Spell could be heightened for a higher DC.
Think that´s worth it and possible?

I was looking to make daze or sleep more worthwhile, but it seems there is no way actually.
Empower + Maximize does not automatically take 2d4 to 12. You get the 8 from maximize then you roll 2d4 and add half of that.
To answer the question I dont think it is worth the effort. I would just ask the GM can I create higher level spells that do the same thing.
Ah you have to roll that? I thought the maximize counts as the rolls in that case.
Seems really not worth the effort then.
I lately had a very good experience playing a telepath psion from dreamscarred press psionics and wanted to mimic that somehow with magics, but seems it´s just impossible.
