I am a new Pathfinder (PF) player and I have been having a lot of difficulty finding play-by-post (PbP) games that are new player friendly, and feel overwhelmed by the learning curve in order to keep up with the more experienced scenarios that are being run. With that in mind, I decided to try and make a positive contribution by learning how to DM/GM in the hopes that it will make soothe my itch to play PF.
Ideally, I am seeking other new/inexperienced players that would be willing to embark on this journey with me in a relaxed fashion. My long-term goal is to assist new players understand the game mechanics in a newbie friendly environment, whilst I learn how to DM/GM and hopefully increase the games’ speed by moving over to Roll 20 and hosting local PF campaigns in the future.
TL;DR:
1. I am a new PF player;
2. Would like to learn how to DM/GM PbP campaigns with the intention of moving onto virtual tabletop platforms (e.g. Roll20) and hosting local PF sessions;
3. Prefer to learn how to DM/GM with other friendly (read: not ass&*#$%) new/inexperienced players;
4. Intend to start with the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path (or Beginner Box; see N.B. below);
5. Anticipate a minimum of one (1) DM/GM post/week, with a maximum of three (3) DM/GM posts/week;
6. As a DM/GM, I would like to allow for players to create back stories for their characters and bring them into the game. I intend to stick to the original campaign/scenario story/narrative, but will try my best to find ways of incorporating individual player back stories in order to provide meaningful, immersive experiences that facilitate individual players, and the party;
7. I would like to get to know, and grow with a group of people that would like to continue playing together for 1+ year(s) across multiple campaigns; and
8. I will only use official sanctioned Pathfinder Society (PFS) campaigns in order to ensure that our characters can be used in PFS sessions in the future. I will create official event IDs for each new session that I start.
N.B.: If there is enough interest, I can start by hosting Pathfinder Beginner Box PbP sessions and progress from there (i.e. Beginner Box Bash Demos, Part I: In Service to Lore, Part II: To Delve the Dungeon Deep, etc.)
In your replies, please indicate the following:
1. If you are interested (I am assuming you are at this stage since you are posting a reply);
2. If you would prefer to being with the PF Beginner Box or the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path; and
3. Your availabilities (preferred days and times) and your timezone/country.
Cheers!

Hello there Seeker of Bacon, and happy welcome to the world of roleplaying! I am not new to Pathfinder or pbp, and I hope you don't mind me posting in your thread. I wanted to suggest that the best way to get over the learning curve of Pathfinder is to have at least one highly experienced person in your ranks (normally the GM) to help guide things along.

But having at least one person with a depth of rules knowledge will be good. /nodnod

I think having an experienced player with a Cleric role or all-around helpful support role would be helpful for a group of newbies. Pretty much an Uncle Iroh of the group; mostly there for tea and checkers, but very helpful in a pinch.
Also, if you have one new guy with a couple more experienced, I'd recommend taking a martial task to put you at the forefront of the group, getting you the most experience and exposure. Most campaigns seem to generally favor a hard-hitter as a traditional "hero" and leader, so you'll be looked to for a good bit to guide things from the player side. I think that will be very good for getting your feet wet.
To the potential GMs: I'd recommend a fast XP track if going for something. I think fewer battle encounters, especially for a PBP game where roleplay can outshine rollplay very easily, will be good to get them associated with all forms of the game. Just taking everyone through a few levels is easier when you don't have to slog through so many battles via forum.
All of those are just my thoughts. That said, I have a couple concepts (including a Cleric) ready for use if you need somebody. Not that you seem to have a lack of ready and willing volunteers to help new players.

I think I'd be interested in this game. I'm not actually sure how many people already volunteered to play (not sure who's giving advice, or who's trying to play), but if there's room, I'd be open.
I'm pretty sure I qualify as a newbie. I own a few books, and enjoy researching character concepts, but I have very little actual playing experience.
I'd probably play a Monk/Brawler, possible a Zen Archer archetype, depending on what role would be most beneficial. However, I'd be open to playing a spontaneous spellcaster to fill party roles (If we're concerned with such things).
I'd prefer to play RotR, but I'd be willing to play the Beginners Box.
I live in Mountain Standard Time area. I'm not sure what you mean by availability, given that it's a PbP. I'm on the internet enough that I could keep up with 3-4 GM posts per week. Depending on how long it takes to shift to roll20 (if ever), my schedule may be different, so I'll figure it out when it's more relevant.
Lemme know if you want me/if you want to question me more/if you're actually full already.

1. I am really interested in jumping on the bandwagon for this. I'm pretty familiar with PF rules (GM'd the Kingmaker AP for my home group for about a year) but am completely new to play-by-post games. I've followed a few of the longer running boards but haven't tried joining yet because of the learning curve for online games. I'd be more than happy to help out with any PF rules questions as best I can. Open to playing anything, but toying with the idea of human sword-and-board fighter..
2. Rise of the Runelords if possible.
3. Pretty much open every day and most evenings, with weekends being a little difficult. US, Pacific Time Zone.

Hello there, WhereIsMyBacon and welcome to the world of Pathfinder!
Although I have not been on Paizo long with my own account, I have helped GM several campaigns while my friends were unable to post and, as such, have years of experience with the messageboards.
An interesting idea, since you are wanting to learn the ropes of PBP GM'ing, is to find someone to co-GM a campaign with you. That is, someone who will help run it who is likely to also want to be an experienced PC. It would also give you a chance to play in the campaign as well, so long as you can avoid reading ahead and 'strategy guiding' the campaign.

Update to my earlier post: No preference to which module we go with, But I would really rather stay on pathfinder instead of roll20 due to the firewalls at work. If we stay on pathfinder, most days I will be able to post throughout the day and evening. If we move platforms, I will be restricted to only posting in the evenings after work. I am in central standard time (Southern Indiana), USA.

Hi there! I'm definitely interested in RotR, I'm a very experienced pathfinder player but not so much with the Play by post. I'm usually the "rounder" of the party in my own games when I'm not DMing, which means I wait until everyone else has picked and then I make my own character based on what the party needs. I have a ton of new ideas that I'd like to try including a Hobgoblin Warpriest of Saraenre (Sacred Fist archetype, N in alignment), a human Hunter (Packmaster archetype, CG or CN in alignment with two Ustalavian Wolfhound animal companions), an aasimar oracle (Dual Cursed, Dark Tapestry, NG in alignment) and many many others!

Howdy Bacon,
I'm a GM on the boards with a couple fairly long term games.WotR and Falcons Hollow I think there is great demand for consistent GM's on the boards and I welcome you to them!
I'd be willing to assist you in running a game if you need some rules/setup advice.
Let me caution you away from any APs though, start small and with something you can finish in a couple of months. There are quite a few Free Rpg Day modules out there. Risen From the Sands is this years.
Here are a few posts that might help you a bunch as a new GM.
Doomed Hero's Guide to Play by Post Games
Please feel free to PM me if you need any help at all!

SPECIAL ABILITIES
=================================================
Bone Mysteries You draw upon the divine mystery of Bone to grant your spells and powers.
Death's Touch (Su) You can cause terrible wounds to appear on a creature with a melee touch attack.
Elven Immunities (Ex) Elves are immune to magic sleep effects and get a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.
Elven Magic (Ex) Elves receive a +2 racial bonus on caster level checks made to overcome spell resistance. In addition, elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Spellcraft skill checks made to identify the properties of magic items.
Eyes and Ears of the City (Abadar) Your religious training involved serving in the city watch of a large city, the primary duty of which was standing sentinel on a city wall. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception checks, and Perception is always a class skill for you.
Forlorn Having lived outside of traditional elf society for much or all of your life, you know the world can be cruel, dangerous, and unforgiving of the weak. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Fortitude saving throws.
Lame One of your legs is permanently wounded, reducing your base land speed by 10 feet. Your speed is never reduced due to encumbrance.
Low-Light Vision (Ex) You can see x2 as far as humans in low illumination. Characters with low-light vision have eyes that are so sensitive to light that they can see twice as far as normal in dim light. Low-Light Vision is color vision. A spellcaster with low-light vision can read a scroll as long as even the tiniest candle flame is next to her as a source of light. Characters with low-light vision can see outdoors on a moonlit night as well as they can during the day.
Orisons You can prepare a number of orisons, or 0-level spells. These spells are cast like any other spells, but they are not expended when used and may be used again.
Urbanite (Ex) Elves who live in cities for more than a century can grow to know the ebb and flow of social situations just as their forest-dwelling cousins know the rules of the wild. Elves with this racial trait gain a +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy checks made to gather information and Sense Motive checks made to get a hunch about a social situation.
Weapon Familiarity (Ex) Elves are proficient with longbows (including composite longbows), longswords, rapiers, and shortbows (including composite shortbows), and treat any weapon with the word "elven" in its name as a martial weapon.

I'm interested in assisting your endeaver.
I'm usually the "rounder" of the party in my own games when I'm not DMing, which means I wait until everyone else has picked and then I make my own character based on what the party needs.
I share this character creation concept. I'm willing to fill in the gaps with whatever role/class the party might need.
I've played Pathfinder off and on for approx 2 of those years. (D&d mostly prior to that)
Due to loss of my regular gaming group (people moving, conflicting schedules), I turned to pbp here at paizo boards around the spring of last year. I really enjoy the pbp format, and currently play p/u pfs games with several different characters.
I prefer to be a player vs GM, but am very comfortable with my understanding of the rules (both RAR "rules as written", and RAI "rules as intended")
I would love to contribute anything I can to assist you, especially if it allows me to join the game (I've never played RotR AP, and would love to try it out)
Thank you for your consideration.

Seems as if though you've got plenty of offers for help. I'll still be glad to toss my hat into the ring of help should you want. And whenever you get to the point, I've also been on Roll20 for a year now, and have made a few friends who help do some big stuff on the site. Just remember not to overload yourself though. I've done that once, and almost lost all my games. Time management in your life is very crucial as GM.
