Rules Question: Adopted Trait

So I'm looking at a Gun Tank I made a few months ago, back when Tieflings were legal, and he has the Adopted trait, picking up the Tiefling Race Trait Suicidal.

I guess what I'm asking is, is this still legal? I'm guessing not, but I'm hoping there's some vague rule where Adopted allows you to pick up a range of legal Pathfinder races or something. :P

I don't beleive it is, as there is phrasing from ARG additional resources that to use racial options (such as racial traits) you must be a member of that race, which negated use of adopted (or that human racial heritage feat.) At least thats what I recall

I thought for sure you were going to ask about taking a racial trait instead of a race trait. Thank you for not being one of those players. ;)

As for your actual question, its not clear. My gut says as long as you played him with the trait before Aug 15th, 2014 then you should be ok. But that may not be the official case. I don't remember if Mike has previously ruled about their race traits through adoption or not.

What Toshiro mentions is only for things from the ARG. That book treats races a bit more strict than other books. But since your trait is from Blood of Fiends, the ARG's rules don't apply.

Blood of Fiends doesn't place any restrictions on the race traits. They're just listed as legal, so it should be fine.

As long as the Trait you're grabbing with Adopted is legal, you're good.

There are no Race Traits in the Advanced Race Guide, and there is no PFS-specific restriction surrounding the Adopted Trait.

Funny enough, I actually had to make a dramatic change to my playtest Medium because he had picked up Adopted and snagged a Racial trait, not a Race trait. :P But now I know!

Yep, this is what I get for posting on the forums at 4:30 when I can't sleep. What I was trying to get out is that any trait taken should be checked against the Additional Resources, as usual, as well as pointing out some things like the ARG ruling exist, so read carefully.

I was thinking the same thing as Nefreet.
