Tar-Baphon or Zutha?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Which one is the more powerful?

Liberty's Edge

Tar-Baphon. Zutha was less powerful than Karzoug...who's way less than Tar-Baphon's CR 26.

So, yeah, that's pretty much official.

Zutha's CR is 18 or 19. Tar-Baphon's is 26.

There's no contest in a one-on-one fight.

Unless Zutha is carrying a suitcase full of explosive runes...

Sovereign Court

Zutha won't even make it past the entrance, between the liches and raveners, armies of undead , yeah raveners which are basically the same cr as Zutha and above.

I remember Paizo ranking the power rating on the Runelords. Sorshen and Xanderghul were top two Mythic casters. But I think they said that Alaznist and Zutha fluctuated back and forth for the number 3 spot, followed by Karzoug, Belimarius, and finally Krune.

Nope. Alaznist was pretty firmly in the #3 spot, followed by Karzoug, then Zutha.

Irnk is right.

Yup, Irnk is correct. It's Karzoug and Alaznist who were...competitive. And it was a competition because Alaznist had more raw power personally (due to demonic bargains) but less in the way of resources.

Is Tar-Baphon fully statted up somewhere?

I see that he's apparently level 20 Mythic 10 and a Lich, but I was wondering if he has a full statblock.

Sovereign Court

Mythic realms p. 62-63.

Tar-Baphon's stats are wrong though. He's got 20 levels plus the gear of a full PC so that's a CR of 20, plus a full 10 mythic ranks so that's +5 to the CR and he's a lich so another +2. He should have a CR of 27.

Could very well be they want that fight 'early' to be a tad more difficult than normal encounter CR would suggest.

Not like it matters what the exact cr number is...you are never going to fight Tar Baphon alone. He is surrounded by liches, vampires, bodaks , raveners etc...fighting in negative energy filled dungeon, good luck.

Get a couple Mythic heroes together and kill him. I think that was kinda the point of having his stats in Mythic Realms.

....waits for someone to whine that that isn't in his stat block....

That's not in his stat block.

Actually...

Animate Touch (Su)

As a standard action, the Whispering Tyrant can touch a dead creature and animate it as a skeleton or zombie, as if using animate dead. He can expend one use of mythic power when using this ability to animate the body as a different type of undead, as if using greater create undead. The Whispering Tyrant treats his total Hit Dice as his caster level for these effects. Undead created in this way are automatically under his control. The Whispering Tyrant does not need to expend any material components when using this ability. This ability replaces the creeping paralysis mythic lich ability.

Perfect Necromancer (Ex)

The Whispering Tyrant can prepare spells from his opposition schools without needing to expend an additional spell slot. He always succeeds at concentration checks to cast spells. He can have any number of undead under his control, and he is not limited by the total Hit Dice of those undead. This ability replaces the enhanced spellcasting mythic lich ability.

So, not specifically Liches or Vampires, but banshees, bodaks, and devourers? Unlimited numbers since he can make several a day and control any number are not only reasonable but almost inevitable given that set of stats.
